Gunsmith's Inquiries Welcomed
his way to winning the high
overall honors at the 1994 Louisiana
Section Championship
match held on October 15,
1994. This Grand Master
shooter has been coming to
Gonzales, LA, for the past couple
of years and giving us shooting
lessons, so he must know
what he's talking about. Local
boy and Section Champion
Duane Landry gave Jim a run
for his money this year, finishing
second with 95 percent. In
the Limited match, another
Texan, Ted Bonnet, gave a few
lessons of his own, finishing
third overall arid High Limited
with 92.4 percent. Baton
Rougean Gordon Lee took Limited
Section Champion title,
shooting 79.5 percent for the
top score.
Seventy-six shooters arrived
to compete in threatening
weather for the match which
was sponsored by Jim's Firearms.
Each club in the "Louisiana
Gator League" set up a
challenging course of fire, and
after a short briefing, the fun
began.
Briley Pistol Division sponsored
Stage 1, "Save The Neighbor,"
run by Mid South
Practical Shooters. This 29-
round Comstock field course
provided plenty of steel plates
to shoot. The helpful neighbor
started standing at his picnic
table; after retrieving gun
from the table, he engaged a
Pepper popper, two steel plates,
and a paper target. He then ran
to a fence and shot three targets
that were hiding behind
the neighbor's wall. Moving on,
he shot a Pepper popper before
banging away at five plates covered
by a swinging no-shoot.
Arriving at the neighbor's
house, he opened the windows
only to find a dropping target
and two other stationary bad
guys behind each window. Rob
Walsh ran this stage in 22.36
seconds, taking the top Open
win with a hit factor of 6.3059.
