The regular Wednesday meeting of the Truth
Students was held in Oriental Hall, Masonic Temple,
Wednesday, October 21st. Mrs. Mary Slonaker,
leader. Subject, " Obedience."
To harmonize the thought of all present, and to
bring them into oneness of feeling, the meeting
opened with singing, " 1 clothe myself safely 'round
with Infinite Love and Wisdom," sung softly, and
followed at once by a period of silence with the
thought, "We are all the good, obedient children of
God, desiring only to know how to live in steady
consciousness of the Absolute Good." Then, "With
a Perfect Heart" was sung.
Mrs. Slonaker: The " Spiritual Law of Attainment,"
which was the subject considered at our last
meeting, is obedience to the law. Law is uniform
continuity of action in a certain direction. Obedience
is conformity to law. Laws are made for all, with
no discrimination, not for the few; and yet laws are
made for offenders against the law, because those
who observe laws, and conform to them, are not conscious
there are laws. No one is exempt. from the
law, neither are the law-abiding in bondage to it,
because to them there are no laws. A club makes
rules for law-breakers. A city is,an organization on
a larger scale, governed by municipal laws designed
to protect law-abiding citizens from the misdeeds of
those who disregard the law. The world is yet a
larger social organization, controlled by civic laws,
in which each individual has rights which must be
respected by every other member of society, to the
end there shall be harmony and comfort in the use of
the world.
Back of all physical and moral laws, is Law itself,
the activity of the One Creative Mind — the law of
