MEETING OF NOVEMBER 7TH.
Mr. Evelyn Arthur See presided. Subject: "The
Power of Man to Know God."
The meeting opened with singing, " Seek the
Truth."
The thought for the silence: "By the Infinity,
and by the Omnipresence of that which is, I am at-one
with It, and It is at-one with me." Singing, "Be
still," supplemented the silence, followed by singing,
"True Freedom."
Mr. See: In our study of Truth we are learning
the way things are done, instead of finding a new
way to do them. When we are ready for Truth to
take possession of our souls, we cannot only overcome
impatience, anger, etc., but we can live in
absolute control of every thing on the human plane.
What does this great subject involve? Not to look
into the natures in man in his humanity, nor into the
nature of God in Its Divinity; neither into the
relation between these two, but into the power of man
to know God; what that power is, and why it can be
exerted. No matter what qualities dwell in God, if
there is not that power in man, he cannot know God.
The old concept of God, and the preponderant idea
about it, is that God is a corporeal being, with
members and organs. Man's concept of self is
equally a mistaken one. The Bible reveals man's
concept of God — God a man — the God-man, a bodyman.
All systems in the world's history have been
built upon man's concept of God. Man's idea of self
changes with change in idea of God.
