when the love of all shall be lost in the love of Gou.
This is the true aim of all life. Yes, what we all
need is life, growth, and never to stand still, except
it be to rest on our journey for the storing up of more
wisdom, and listen to the voice which speaks to us
in the silence, the "still, small voice" of God, our
real conscience, that we may go on again stronger
and fuller of joy and love than before; and then we
shall find life a continual revealment of grander
truths, and rising higher and higher to this perfect
unity of the kingdom of heaven within us. Unless
we go on from day to day, hour by hour in faith, we
cannot know God.
The seeking germ is planted within us and the
voice is ever calling us to go onwards, to come
upwards. Listen! and let it not be drowned in the
outer vojees of the world around us; look within, and
then we shall be strong to act. We grow and find
power within by listening, by taking in the wispered
thoughts which come to us in the receptivity of our
souls. But this silence does not necessarily mean
we must be still and inactive. We may work with
our hands, and be amidst the hustle and activity of
life around us, and yet remain in that perfect silence
and poise of soul which cannot be shaken; and
perhaps the greatest inspirations and thoughts may
come to us more often when we are thus employed
than when we consciously wait and listen. The
greatest rest is sometimes found in the greatest
activity.
The greater the power of gaining inspiration and
soul food in the silence, the greater will be our
power for active work, when the time comes to find
out what we have stored up in these precious hours.
By combining this repose and activity we shall be
able to adjust our lives to every circumstance and
our bodies will become the very temples of God.
The body is for the use of the soul, and the perfect
