Working principle<br />
A turboexp<strong>and</strong>er is designed to extract<br />
energy from a process <strong>gas</strong>. High-<br />
pressure <strong>gas</strong> enters the exp<strong>and</strong>er case,<br />
passes through the exp<strong>and</strong>er nozzles<br />
where it is directed into the exp<strong>and</strong>er<br />
impeller, <strong>and</strong> then exits through the<br />
exp<strong>and</strong>er discharge at a lower pressure<br />
<strong>and</strong> temperature. The energy<br />
removed from the <strong>gas</strong> stream by the<br />
exp<strong>and</strong>er can be used to provide compression<br />
power to the process cycle.<br />
