ZYTO technology is a communication
system through which information
is transmitted and analyzed.
Communication is the transmission of information and knowledge. As human
beings, we consider ourselves intelligent based upon the information we retain and
how we act on that information.
On a simplified level, it is obvious how valuable information and communication
are. For example, a teacher instructs her students to recognize specific shapes, and
they learn to read. A pilot navigates his passengers safely through the sky by trusting
data communicated from various locations throughout the world. In both instances,
the transmission and receipt of information are vital to survival and human
understanding.
ZYTO Corporation recognizes the significance of information and communication.
As the global leader in bio-communication technology, the company stands at
the cutting edge of two decades of technological evolution. Dr. Vaughn R Cook,
OMD, founded ZYTO to create operating systems that facilitate the transfer of
information between computers and human beings. Since 2004, health professionals
around the world have used ZYTO technology to improve patient care and clinical
outcomes. ZYTO’s main purpose is to assist in the transmission of information in a
quick, painless, and subliminal manner.
ZYTO creates communication systems through which information is transmitted
and analyzed. Our technology is the link between two information processors: a
computer and a human body. ZYTO instruments monitor dynamic biological states
in near-real time and then create a stimulus-response experience called a bio-survey.
During the bio-survey, computer data (called virtual stressors) are used to stimulate
observable changes in the biological state.
Using patent-pending methods, ZYTO technology analyzes the interchange
between the stimulus from the computer and the response from the patient’s body.
6
This data provides valuable clinical information that ZYTO practitioners use to
create improved and comprehensive client-specific health solutions.
By accessing data at a subconscious level, health practitioners using ZYTO
technology are able to expand their patients’ care options. With ZYTO, they can
design relevant questions and receive detailed answers that serve as navigational aids.
Even though this information is not diagnostic, it can facilitate better diagnostic and
therapeutic decisions.
Leading clinicians, from locations around the world, are now using ZYTO
technology. ZYTO’s global influence is a result of the technology’s universal
appeal and the instruments’ adaptability to numerous languages and cultures. Most
recently, in February 2007, ZYTO brought its technology to Shanghai, China,
and as the world landscape changes, ZYTO technology will continue to expand to
accommodate the needs of expanding markets.

The Technology
ZYTO’s bio-communication technology improves quality of life by helping you
balance your body’s stress system through better therapeutic decisions for both
patient and practitioner alike.
Our bodies are made up of various systems that can respond to stimuli. The smell
of food (stimulus) triggers the mouth to salivate (response). A loud noise (stimulus)
triggers the release of adrenaline into the blood and an increased heart rate
(response).
There are various ways to measure the body’s response to stimuli. One way is GSR
or Galvanic Skin Response. GSR measures the conductivity (how well something
conducts electricity) of the largest organ in the body, the skin. The conductivity of
the skin was first discovered around 1888 by Tarchanoff. In the early 1900’s it was
established by Dr. Carl Jung that GSR measurements could track physiological
arousal or stress in the body. In the 1930’s Dr. Hans Selye began to uncover the
importance of understanding stress and what information it could tell us about the
different systems of the body. These discoveries of the importance of stress in the
body and its ability to be measured through GSR have led to the creation of many
common devices, such as the polygraph test.
Late in the 20th century, many researchers identified further uses for GSR, such as
recognizing that it could be monitored on acupuncture points to measure the body’s
energy meridians. GSR could be used to track the body’s energetic state and balance.
In the late 1990’s, integrating Eastern Medicine with Western research in stress
and GSR, Dr. Vaughn R Cook began research to advance the theory of the body’s
internal “Stress System” that is related to and interacts with all other systems of
the body. A balanced stress system brings about optimal quality of life, whereas, an
imbalanced system leads to problems that may show up such as fatigue, weight gain,
low energy, chronic pain, etc...
ZYTO’s bio-communication technology was developed to measure the body’s Stress
System. Much like a polygraph technician asking a subject questions and evaluating
the body’s response, ZYTO Technology uses GSR to measure the Stress System’s
response to virtual stimuli in real time. In a sense, ZYTO Technology asks the
body questions and measures how the body responds. This information leads to the
creation of a “Stress Profile” which reveals the state of balance and imbalance within
the Stress System. Next, it queries the body with possible balancing solutions and
measures the response to determine the best approaches.
Technology
Through implementation of these solutions the Stress System can become more
balanced which leads to improved quality of life for the individual.
Understanding Deviation Ratios (dR)
The LSA PRO and Balance Systems are bio-communication devices, facilitating
the transfer of information between a computer and a human body. This is
accomplished after the person places his hand on the hand cradle and the computer
detects it. Several times each second the circuitry inside the hand cradle measures
galvanic skin response (GSR) at each of the contact points. The software operator
then instructs the computer to conduct what is called a Bio-Survey.
A Bio-Survey consists of a series of discreet time periods. During the first period
a baseline is calculated. Next, the computer outputs a stimulus, called a virtual
stressor, and then measures the body’s response. The response is compared to the
baseline and any variation is noted. This process is repeated until the Bio-Survey is
complete.
Proprietary algorithms are involved at each step of the Bio-Survey. Since they
are proprietary, their expression required its own terminology which we named
“deviation Ratio” or “dR”. dR is not expressive of any common mathematical
calculation (i.e. standard deviation, etc) and applies only to ZYTO technology. dR
is a comparative, numerical representation of the body’s response to the stimulus.
- dR Indicates a stress response.
+ dR Indicates a balance response.
0 dR Indicates no reaction (the baseline and response were the same).
Is one dR good and another bad?
No, the +dR is not ‘better’ than a –dR.
How the dR is applied:
1. Bio-Surveys intended to identify items that may be antagonistic to the
body are initiated using the Stressor icon. (This applies only to the LSA
PRO, the Balance automatically does this and does not have a Stressor icon).
The dRs further from zero are significant (both + and -). Those further from
zero represent a significant response, thus the more antagonistic the stimulus
(virtual stressor).
2. Bio-Surveys intended to identify items that may be therapeutic or
balancing to the body are initiated using the balance icon. (This applies only
to the LSA PRO, the Balance automatically does this and does not have a
balance icon). The dRs with the most positive number are most significant.
Positive dRs indicate a balance response.
3. Bio-Surveys intended to identify items that the body sees as ‘inert’ are
initiated using either the Stressor or balance icons (This applies only to the
LSA PRO and not the Balance). Those dRs at or closest to zero are also
significant, because the body shows no response.
Bio-Communication and Reproducibility
ZYTO technology facilitates Bio-Communication by allowing a conversation to
take place directly between a computer and a human body. The process is called a
bio-survey. A bio-survey is not diagnostic and is not intended to identify or treat a
disease. The closest clinical comparison is a health history. During the first clinic
visit it is customary to have a patient complete a health history. Gathering this
information may involve the use of a clipboard, a printed form, and a pen. These are
not medical devices, but the information acquired can have significant clinical value.
In a similar, but subconscious way, ZYTO technology is used to “ask” a patient
questions and record the “answers”. The tools that facilitate this are the hand cradle,
upon which the patient rests his/her hand, and the computer software. These
are non-medical tools but the information obtained from a bio-survey can have
significant clinical value.
The conversation between the computer and the patient takes the form of a
stimulus-response exercise. The computer asks a question by sending a signal to the
patient, called a virtual stressor. Upon receiving the signal the patient’s body will
respond, measured as a shift in GSR (galvanic skin response) at the point of contact
with the hand cradle. ZYTO software records and analyzes this data and displays it
in a way that is easily understood by the operator.
The challenge Bio-Communication poses for many healthcare professionals is
the mindset that everything done in the clinic is akin to a lab test. Although
many medical procedures such as blood pressure monitoring and blood tests
can vary when repeated in short intervals, this mindset can bring an expectation
that one question when asked repeatedly should result in the same answer. Bio-
Communication is discounted as “non-reproducible”. When repeated, bio-surveys
do not result in the same answers.
Clinicians using ZYTO technology report that data collected and plotted over time
from an individual patient show consistent trends. They further report that a biosurvey
is most valuable when executed only once – the first results are the best. But,
immediate “reproducibility” can be problematic. Reasons why:
1. The hand cradle measures GSR or body energy. Energy is dynamic and
shifts quickly. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) this body energy
is called chi and is considered the most rapidly moving anatomical element.
Thus the response to a given stimulus (virtual stressor) can easily change in
two separate time periods, even though the stimulus is the same.
2. The stimulus is therapeutic; not in the medicinal sense but in the
informational sense. It’s analogous to someone slouching in his chair and
complaining about his back hurting. He is informed that his posture may be
the problem and when he sits up straight his back pain disappears – his stress
is relieved. The information regarding his posture affected the solution.
3. The bio-survey is a conversation not a lab test and it may not be in the
body’s best interest to always provide the same answer (response) to a given
question (stimulus).
During the development stage, results from ZYTO technology were compared to
other energetic systems. Techniques and validation were near one hundred percent.
These results indicate that Bio-Communication provides reliable information from
which a health professional can build diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for
each individual patient. Clinic outcomes are almost always enhanced when Bio-
Communication becomes an integral part of the data gathering process.
4. Coherence Patterns
Coherence is a state where two or more things exist without conflict.
By tracking multiple inputs ZYTO technology can calculate shifts in
coherence as the body responds to each digital signature. Signatures
that create greater coherence than the baseline are given a positive
score and signatures creating less coherence than the baseline are
given a negative score.
3. Galvanic Skin Response
Galvanic Skin Response (GSR) is an
established technology that measures
fluctuations in electrical conductivity
of the skin as the body responds to
various stimuli. One application of GSR
that many people are familiar with is
lie-detector testing.
5. Proprietary Software
The data received from the hand
cradle is plotted and analyzed
for coherence. Each response is
given a positive or negative score
called a Deviation Ratio (dR).
the skin and converts the analog
readings to a digital form which is
1. Digital Signatures
Computer generated digital signatures representing
physical stimuli are sent to the body. These digital
stimuli elicit physiological responses from the body,
one of which is a change in the conductivity of the
skin (GSR). These fluctuations in skin conductivity are
measured and sent back to the computer for analysis
and interpretation.
6. Prioritized Results
A fter analyzing the data from
the hand cradle, the computer
displays the data in an easyto-read
graphical interface.
The data shows the body’s
responses ranked in order of
priority. Results are optimized
and time is used more efficiently
by focusing on the body’s
priorities.
