Average asset <strong>in</strong>crease <strong>of</strong> re-<strong>contest<strong>in</strong>g</strong> <strong>MLAs</strong>: party-wise<br />
The table below provides the party-wise average asset <strong>in</strong>crease <strong>of</strong> re-<strong>contest<strong>in</strong>g</strong> <strong>MLAs</strong>. F<strong>in</strong>ancial details <strong>of</strong> 82<br />
<strong>MLAs</strong> <strong>of</strong> CPI (M) are available from affidavits <strong>of</strong> 2006 Assembly Elections. These were matched with available<br />
affidavits <strong>of</strong> <strong>2011</strong> to reveal that the average asset <strong>in</strong>crease for each re-<strong>contest<strong>in</strong>g</strong> MLA <strong>of</strong> CPI (M) is Rs. 8.97<br />
lakhs. The same procedure was followed for other parties and it was found that the available details for 18<br />
<strong>MLAs</strong> from AITC show an average asset <strong>in</strong>crease <strong>of</strong> Rs. 32.75 lakhs each. Given below is the detail for all<br />
parties who have re-<strong>contest<strong>in</strong>g</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>West</strong> <strong>Bengal</strong> Assembly Elections <strong>2011</strong>:<br />

The table below provides the <strong>in</strong>crease <strong>in</strong> assets <strong>of</strong> re-<strong>contest<strong>in</strong>g</strong> <strong>MLAs</strong>. In Rupees, the maximum growth <strong>in</strong><br />
assets has been for Swadesh Ranjan Nayak <strong>of</strong> CPI (M). His assets have grown by over 1.7 crore. He is followed by<br />
Apurba Sarkar <strong>of</strong> INC (asset growth <strong>of</strong> over 1.3 crore) and Sadhan Pande <strong>of</strong> AITC (asset growth <strong>of</strong> over 1<br />
Crore).<br />
In percentage terms, the maximum percentage <strong>in</strong>crease is <strong>in</strong> the total assets <strong>of</strong> Bivas Chakraborty <strong>of</strong> AIFB from<br />
Murshidabad constituency. His assets have grown by 86030%. He is followed by Kallol Khan <strong>of</strong> AITC from<br />
Nadia constituency with a growth <strong>of</strong> 6448% <strong>in</strong> his assets and Sub<strong>in</strong>ay Ghosh, CPI (M), from Nadia with a<br />
growth <strong>of</strong> 2923% <strong>in</strong> his assets.<br />
