Kayli Schafer ’11 and Chelsy Gott ’11 are two of the many student-athletes who exemplify Franklin College’s liberal arts tradition of operating
with a sound mind in a sound body. Read more about their academic and athletic achievements in this magazine on pg. 46.
Schafer and Gott are in good company. At the start of this academic year, two-thirds of new students indicated having an interest in athletics,
and over one-third currently are participating in our Division III athletics programs through the Heartland College Athletic Conference. With
your help, the college can continue supporting these promising student-athletes and instilling the lifelong lessons of teamwork, discipline and
perseverance. Please consider joining our efforts to build a new tennis complex as part of The Future Unfolds campaign.
The new tennis complex will be located in the heart of Grizzly Park, on the east side of campus. Its 10 composition courts will allow both the
men’s and women’s teams to
practice simultaneously and the
four lighted courts will provide
more flexibility in practice
schedules with nighttime
opportunities. The additional
courts also enable the college to
host NCAA conference matches
and offer tennis camps, private
lessons and community
tournaments, which could help
generate additional revenues for
the program.
Trustees Jim Hoover and John
Grimmer have issued a special
challenge to alumni and friends
who are supporters of the proposed
facility. During The Future Unfolds
campaign, they will match dollar
for dollar all gifts and pledges
designated to the tennis project
up to a total of $200,000.
Commitments from tennis
boosters are payable over a
five-year period. Please call
(317) 738-8040 to speak with the
Office of Institutional Advancement
about making your personal pledge.
