Military Police participate in Armed Forces Appreciation Day
519th MILITARY POLICE BATTALION
SULPHUR, La. — More than 150 Soldiers and
Family members of the 519th Military Police Battalion
joined the community of Sulphur, La., in
celebration of its annual Armed Forces Appreciation
Day Nov. 12 at the Recreation and Aquatic
Center.
Each year, the city of Sulphur conducts an
Armed Forces Appreciation Day following Veteran’s
Day in recognition of the achievements, sacrifices
and dedication of veterans, service members
and their Families.
The 519th MP Bn’s chain of command and Soldiers
shared quality time with local veterans and
the community.
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8107, American
Legion Post 171, the Armed Forces Committee of
Sulphur, Victory Worship Center and many other
volunteers in the community organized the
event.

Cantrell closure
Cantrell Fitness Center closes for renovations
Jan. 1 for about one year. Renovations include interior
and exterior upgrades. During the closure,
fitness needs may be met at Wheelock Fitness
Center, 1st Maneuver Enhancement Brigade
Gym, 162nd Infantry Brigade Gym and the Operations
Group Gym.
Teen lock-in
Child, Youth and School Services’ Middle
School and Teen program hosts a lock-in today
and Saturday from 6 p.m.-7 a.m. at the Siegfried
Youth Center. Youth will enjoy dinner and breakfast,
skating, movies and bowling.
The lock-in is open to youth in grades six
through 12 that are registered with CYSS. The
cost is $15. Participants must wear appropriate

Child, Youth and School Services offers special
openings Saturday from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. for children
ages 6 weeks to 12 years old. To reserve a
space, reservations must be made by noon today.
Cost is $35 per day per child and must be paid in
full at the time of reservation.
Parents must bring hourly care packets for all
children on the day of care. Children must be
registered with CYSS to attend.Call 531-1955 for

Brunch update
Sunday Brunch at the Warrior Community
Center is halted during the holidays. Brunch resumes
Jan. 8 at 10 a.m.
Mouth protection
Shira Dental Clinic offers mouth guards for active-duty
dependents, ages 12-18, Monday
through Wednesday from 8-10 a.m. and 1-2 p.m.
No more than 10 will be given out each day on a
first-come, first-served basis. For more information
