SCHOLARSHIP AUDITIONS
RULES
April 2, 2012
ELIGIBILITY: Scholarships are for new undergraduate or new graduate students who are
accepted for admission to the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music for the
2012-2013 academic year. All audition applicants must complete the University admission forms
in order to be eligible for the audition.
DEADLINE: All university forms and Gee International Scholarship audition forms must be
received by:
REPERTOIRE: (from memory)
GEE VIOLA AUDITION
March 26, 2012
One fast and one slow movement from a standard concerto for viola and orchestra such as Stamitz
or Hoffmeister for undergraduate and Walton, Bartok, Hindemith (Schwanendreher), Penderecki
or Rosza for graduates.
Two movements from any Bach cello suite.
One movement or piece contrasting from the concerto and Bach piece.
One etude (Kreutzer, Rhodes, Campagnoli, etc.).

EXPENSES: Transportation to and from the audition, and all expenses at the audition will be the
responsibility of the applicant.
AWARDS: The judges reserve the right to make fewer awards than mentioned if in their opinion
the level of the auditions warrants. The decision of the judges will be final. The prizes will be
awarded in the quarterly amounts upon enrollment at the College-Conservatory of Music.

For students presently studying in the United States: Should you receive Gee Scholarship, the
National Association of Schools of Music Code of Ethics requires us to inform you that your
acceptance of the award declares your intention to attend the College-Conservatory of Music this
academic year. The Code also requires that the following statement be signed by the scholarship
recipient: In accepting the offer of scholarship from the University of Cincinnati College-
Conservatory of Music, I recognize that I may not consider any other offer from an institutional
member of the National Association of Schools of Music for the academic year 2012-2013, except
with express consent of the music executive of the above named institution.
I also acknowledge if I am a transfer student that I will not be named a GEE AUDITION
Finalist if I do not have a statement releasing me from scholarship obligations at my current
institution. I am aware that it is my responsibility to have such a statement obtained from
my dean/department head and any falsification relating to this matter will result in the
cancellation of any scholarship which may be awarded by the College-Conservatory of
Music.
For all students: I understand that the University Graduate Scholarship Award is renewable if I
maintain a “B” average plus carry and earn at least 12 credit hours per academic semester.
