Group Expectations – The “Killer Bees”
Be on time! The room will open at 6:45pm. We start playing at 7:00pm.
Be prepared! Have your music, your instrument and a pencil each time we meet.
Be focused! Every time we play it’s a performance.
Be responsible! Know your part, take care of yourself and help others.
Be ready! A new adventure awaits each time we meet.

Absences
Due to the nature of the music being studied and because this ensemble only meets once per week,
unexcused absences may result in the student being dismissed from the Jazz Explosion. Excused
absences include family emergencies, serious illness, and school functions. For excused absences,
please notify Mr. Mitchell at least one week in advance via e-mail (drews.mitchell@lakotaonline.com).
Concert Dress
All students will wear a black shirt (button down preferred, but a golf shirt will work) and
khaki pants for the performances at JEN and OMEA. We’ll wear our CCM Prep T-shirts and khaki
pants for the other performances. T-shirts are available for $10.
Food and Drink
No food and drink are allowed in any rehearsal or performing facility at Lakota West High
School, Lakota East High School or the College-Conservatory of Music. You may bring enclosed
bottles of water.
Rehearsal Cancellation
In the event of poor weather, rehearsals may be canceled. Mr. Mitchell will communicate a
cancellation via e-mail. The Jazz Explosion is a branch of the University of Cincinnati Preparatory
Department and subject to their guidelines and fees.
The basic fee for the year is $300.00 plus a $30.00 registration fee.
Jazz Explosion members can receive a 20% discount for private lessons taken on their Jazz
Explosion instrument through the CCM Preparatory Department.
