Application Procedures for <strong>CCM</strong> Paper Application<br />

for Electronic Media beginning Fall 2012<br />

Who should use this application form? Current UC students, prospective students who<br />

already used UC Online Apply to apply for a non-<strong>CCM</strong> major, or in other special circumstances.<br />

We encourage you to schedule an appointment to tour the Electronic Media facilities and<br />

observe some classes. Contact <strong>CCM</strong> Admissions at 513-556-9479 or ccmadmis@uc.edu to<br />

schedule an appointment. We also encourage you to visit the divisional Web site at<br />

http://emedia.ccm.uc.edu and familiarize yourself with the curriculum before you apply.<br />

Application Instructions:<br />

Complete the <strong>CCM</strong> Paper Application, <strong>CCM</strong> Addendum and return with your application<br />

fee in the form <strong>of</strong> a check for $60 payable to <strong>CCM</strong> Admissions. Use the 4 digit EMED<br />

for Electronic Media on the application. Application deadline is December 1, 2011.<br />

Admission to Electronic Media is based on GPA record, standardized test scores, two<br />

letters <strong>of</strong> recommendation, and a personal 500-word applicant statement. If the<br />

Electronic Media Division needs more information in order to complete the decisionmaking<br />

process, you may be asked to interview either by phone or through a campus<br />

visit.<br />

500 Word Applicant Statement: You should use the essay to describe why you are<br />

interested in the electronic media program and your pr<strong>of</strong>essional goals. We would also<br />

like you to tell us what aspects <strong>of</strong> a college education, beyond E-Media, are appealing to<br />

you and why. You may e-mail to ccmadm3@ucmail.uc.edu or submit with this<br />

application.<br />

Two letters <strong>of</strong> recommendation from teachers, employers, or similarly qualified<br />

individuals. Personal and pr<strong>of</strong>essional qualifications should be emphasized. Ask<br />

recommender to include your full name and birth date in the letter.<br />

Your application must be complete before it can be reviewed.<br />

Note that there is a computer requirement for accepted students (information is on the<br />

E-Media website).<br />

Thank you for your request for information about the Electronic Media Division <strong>of</strong> <strong>CCM</strong>. We appreciate your<br />

interest in our program.<br />

If you have already accumulated a substantial number <strong>of</strong> credits at UC, we suggest that you think carefully about<br />

your decision to transfer. We want you to be aware that, although many <strong>of</strong> your credits may transfer into this<br />

program, this will not necessarily expedite the time you’ll need to spend to get your degree.<br />

It is likely that you will have to add additional semesters to your education in order to fulfill the E-Media Division’s<br />

degree requirements. Moreover, you will need to enroll in freshman and sophomore level classes (pre-requisites)<br />

before you will be allowed to advance to junior and senior level courses. Finally, there is no guarantee that you<br />

will be able to enroll in a full course load in Electronic Media during any semester. Transferring to E-Media is<br />

likely to add time and expense to your education.<br />

I am telling you this up front so that if you are admitted to our program, you will experience no hardship you were<br />

not prepared for.<br />

I also remind you that we require incoming students to purchase a Mac laptop computer. Details <strong>of</strong> that requirement<br />

are on our web site.<br />

Please consider your transfer decision carefully. If you still feel that E-Media is your calling, we welcome your<br />

application to our program.<br />
