EMERGENCIES AND PROCEDURES IN PEDIATRICS
MARRIOTT - LONG WHARF, BOSTON
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Through didactic lectures and interactive sessions, the presentation and management of
pediatric patients with medical and surgical emergencies will be taught in this intensive
three-day course. Keynote lectures will focus on the “must knows” of various forms of shock,
what not to miss in the first 28 days of life, and review the year’s best literature in pediatric
emergency medicine. Small-group interactive sessions will highlight procedural sedation,
interpretation of urgent diagnostic radiology, and airway management, including rapid
sequence intubation and laryngeal mask airways. Hands-on workshops will allow participants
to practice megacode, ultrasound techniques, advanced simulation, and pediatric procedures
such as vascular and intraosseous access and bladder tap aspiration. Pediatric surgeons will
offer individualized teaching on suturing, casting and splinting techniques.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
