Mayor’s Message<br />
<strong>Franklin</strong> <strong>Park</strong> remains an excellent place to<br />
raise a family. Our Village also happens to be a<br />
great place to open a business. Easy access to<br />
expressways, access to railroads for freight and<br />
travel, and commerce and industry spurred by<br />
the greatest airport in the world, benefit families<br />
and businesses in <strong>Franklin</strong> <strong>Park</strong>. Within the next<br />
five years, our community can expect to have<br />
access to the Tri-State Tollway (294), going south<br />
off of <strong>Franklin</strong> Avenue, just east of County Line<br />
Road.<br />
Moving into the future, <strong>Franklin</strong> <strong>Park</strong> will make the transition from<br />
fossil fuels to passive energy forces. This will reduce residential,<br />
commercial, and industrial costs, create jobs and make our businesses<br />
more competitive.<br />
With a new economic reality upon our nation, it will be important<br />
for us to learn to live within the Village’s means without borrowing for<br />
day-to-day operations and without raising taxes. The Village has<br />
created a healthy balance of business friendly initiatives while keeping<br />
our buildings safe.<br />
The future is bright in a Village that will increasingly make its<br />
government more responsive to its residents and more cost efficient.<br />
That government that governs least, governs best.<br />

new Village Web site in Development: In mid-<strong>2010</strong>, the Village<br />
of <strong>Franklin</strong> <strong>Park</strong> will be launching a new Web site. It will provide<br />
residents and businesses greater access to information and<br />
many Village services.<br />
building inspection Program: Inspection services for all permit<br />
work. Building and electric permits are required for pools, fences,<br />
sheds, wood decks, concrete patios, garages and additions.<br />
Fire Prevention Services: Inspection of commercial and<br />
industrial properties to insure proper life safety and fire safety<br />
compliance. Review of new construction and alteration plans to<br />
insure compliance with fire codes.<br />
Multi-Dwelling inspection Program: Provides examination of all<br />
multi-unit structures every 12 months. Emphasis is on life-safety<br />
issues and structural code compliance.<br />
Food Protection Program: Inspectors undertake the following<br />
food inspectional programs: food establishments, food and food<br />
products, mobile food vendors, food service operations, food<br />
dispensing machines and food transport.<br />
