Hoskin-Elliot & Kennedy Dominate For Vic Metro
Western Jets’ footballers, Will Hoskin-
Elliott and Adam Kennedy, have
played starring roles in the Vic
Metro’s dominating 48-point victory over rival
Vic Country.
Hoskin-Elliott was in the best fi ve players on the
ground in one of his most impressive games for
the Metro.
Speculation surrounding the teenager is no longer
about if he will get drafted but rather which AFL
club will win his services come draft time.
He managed 17 quality disposals including seven
inside-50s as well as laying six tackles in the
9.17 (70) to 2.10 (22) win. It was an excellent
four-quarter performance by Hoskin-Elliott and
his team-mates.
“We did everything really well. Put on some
good blocks and shepherds,” Hoskin-Elliott said.
“I was pretty happy with it. I got ten handball
receives and that’s what I have been aiming for
the whole carnival.”
Hoskin-Elliott is reaping the benefi ts of big preseason,
which he credits for taking his fi tness to
another level. He was able to fi nish Wednesday
night’s match full of running.
Kennedy may be joining his Jets’ team-mate at
an AFL club after an impressive carnival with the
Vic Metro.
He had nine disposals and was as solid as a rock
down back, restricting the Vic Country to just two
goals for the match and a scoreless third quarter.
“It’s happened throughout the carnival... the boys
just fi nd another gear after half time. It’s a big
credit to them, they do it well,” Kennedy said.
“I got put on a good player tonight and I thought
I did a decent job.”
Kennedy has gone from strength to strength since
fi nding his feet in the Metro jumper.
“I was very pleased over the carnival. My fi rst
game I struggled a bit but the last two, the
coaches have been really happy with me. I’m
just happy to get consecutive games in the Vic
Metro squad.”
Kennedy and Hoskin-Elliott now return to the
Western Jets where they will try and help lift the
club from seventh place on the TAC Cup ladder.
The Jets are enjoying a run of mid-season form,
which continued last weekend. They defeated the
Eastern Rangers by 29 points to continue their
late run towards the fi nals.
The Jets led at every change in the 17.13 (115) to
13.8 (86) win.
Kennedy is hoping the experience he has picked
up playing for Vic Metro will serve him well
when he returns to play with his team-mates.
“Playing in this, every bloke comes out and they
are there for a reason. When I go back I should be
better for it,” Kennedy said.
“We have won the last couple. Hopefully we can
get a few more wins and make fi nals. Then have
an impact there.”
