for the
13 th International Reinhardsbrunn
Symposium
Modern Fungicides
and
Antifungal Compounds
May 14 th – May 18 th , 2001
Friedrichroda – Germany
Application and detection of new systemic fungicides
has made further progress in the past years.
Simultaneously new problems and borderlines
emerged and demand more detailed investigations on
biological and physiological properties of modern
antifungal compounds or alternative strategies.
The resulting new theoretical insights are a valuable
basis for practical application as well as for chemical
development of new and better compounds. The
series of the Reinhardsbrunn Symposia, which has
been established by Prof. Dr. Horst Lyr since 1962,
provide a successful and traditional forum for the
presentation and discussion of innovations and recent
trends in fungicide research, development and
application. On the behalf of the Scientific
Committee we want to invite you take part in the
13 th International Symposium on
"MODERN FUNGICIDES AND ANTIFUNGAL
COMPOUNDS"
May 14 th - May 18 th , 2001
Treff-Hotel Thüringer Wald, Reinhardsbrunn
The symposium will again be supported by the
German Phytomedical Society and the British Crop
Protection Council. The program will be focussed on
the following topics:
1. Mechanism of action, causes of selectivity and
behaviour of fungicidal and antifungal
compounds.
2. Biochemical, genetic and molecular aspects of
resistance against fungicides
3. Host-Pathogen interactions and disease control
4. Induced resistance in plants
5. Novel approaches for diagnostics and disease
control
6. Discovery and aspects of screening for anti-fungal
compounds
The symposium program will include the recent
information on the mode of action of fungicides, the
biochemical and molecular aspects of their activity,
their influence on host-pathogen interaction as well as
all aspects of resistance against fungicides.
The exploration of new antifungal compounds with
specific modes of action has lead to a joint interest of
agriculture, chemistry and medicine in fundamental
research.
The program will also be focussed on all aspects of
integrated disease control strategies. Furthermore
questions of food quality, especially mycotoxin
contamination, will be covered. Moreover, an
increasing interest in host-pathogen interaction and
induced resistance in plants will also be included.
The relevance of novel diagnostic approaches and
disease prognosis especially with new compounds
will also be covered in the program. Alternative
methods in the control of fungal growth (natural
compounds) will be discussed. Additionally aspects
of discovery and identification of new antifungal
compounds will be considered.
All fields of research on modern fungicides and
antifungal compounds received world-wide increasing
interest during the last years and will be included
in the forthcoming symposium.
Besides invited lectures the symposium is based on
contributed papers as oral and poster presentations.
Following the tradition of the symposium series there
will be room for individual discussions and
stimulating workshops.
It is the intention of the Organizing Committee to
arrange a well-balanced program with sufficient time
for discussions. We would appreciate very much to
meet you as an active participant in this symposium.
Speakers and all other active participants with topical
contributions will be registered preferentially.
