Group 4 slemmed Maces were all recovered from the Deadman's Pool site<br />

(CgDI-3) on the Tobique River, New Brunswick. No radiocarbon dates are<br />

associated with the assemblage from this site, nor are there definite cultural<br />

affiliations known. Two types <strong>of</strong> projectile point fQ(m are known from the site,<br />

and lhasa have been sub-divided into Groups 4A and 4B.<br />

Group 4A forms are characterized by convex blade edges. strai:Jht or<br />

expanding stems formed by comer removal, straight bases, and wide angled<br />

shoulders. One specimen is complete, while the tip is missing from the second.<br />

Artifact descriptions are listed in Appendix H and a sample ouLline <strong>of</strong> a Group<br />

4A stemmed biface is shown in FlQure 9.<br />

Group 4B forms are characterized by expanding stems, where present.<br />

convex blade edges, convex stem bases. biconvex cross and longitudinal<br />

sections, and wide rounded shoulders. They are thicker than Group 4A<br />

stemmed bifaces, but not as broad in the blade. Group 4B artifact descriptions<br />

are provided in Appendix I and a sample outline is shown in Figure 10.<br />

The metric attributes lor Group 4A and 48 stemmed bifaces are not listed<br />

in table form due to small sample size.
