Principal's Report
Mary MacKillop Primary School, Narre Warren Nth
2011 was a year when the school could fully enjoy the buildings works that had been such a
feature of our school for the past three years. The school is extremely pleased that the
buildings have contributed so much to enriching the learning environment for our students.
In 2011 we welcomed Fr Brendan Hogan as our parish priest and in August Fr. Brendan
was joined by Fr. Janeesh Jose as Assistant Priest for our parish ‘Our Lady Help of
Christians, Narre Warren.’
The school in conjunction with Youth Leadership Victoria again offered a very successful
Out of School Hours (OSHC) program offering care for students prior to school from 6:30
am and after school until 6pm. Some mornings there can be 18 students in attendance and
on the most popular night up to 55 students can be in attendance. In addition, vacation care
programs were offered in all term holidays. Parents are very happy with the program.
Quality craft programs that were introduced in 2011 were the highlight for parents and
students alike. We are fortunate to be able to offer families this wonderful service. The
school is appreciative of the great staff that runs the program.
It was certainly a family time for staff members with five staff members, either giving birth
this year or early in 2012. We wish our new mums every blessing.
We truly have much to be grateful for at our school and I pray that each and every member
of our school community will be inspired by St Mary of the Cross MacKillop:-
Through her example, may we learn to recognize God’s will for each of us and
trust in God’s providence.
May her life of service awaken in us a deep respect for the poor and a passion
for justice.
May we share in her courage, see with her vision and love with her heart.
