List <strong>the</strong> words that students will be learning to sign on <strong>the</strong><br />

board. Then demonstrate each sign, saying <strong>the</strong> word as you<br />

sign it. Have students say <strong>the</strong> word and practice signing with<br />

you. Then speak <strong>the</strong> song without <strong>the</strong> CD to help children learn<br />

<strong>the</strong> ASL signs. Now play “<strong>When</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Rain</strong> <strong>Comes</strong> <strong>Down</strong>” as <strong>the</strong><br />

students sing and sign along.<br />

Until students are fl uent signing <strong>the</strong> words in <strong>the</strong> song, continue<br />

to review <strong>the</strong> ASL signs before playing “<strong>When</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Rain</strong> <strong>Comes</strong><br />

<strong>Down</strong>.” As individual students become more skilled at signing,<br />

invite <strong>the</strong>m to lead <strong>the</strong> class in singing and signing.<br />
