Please Note:<br />
The ability to hit a Softball off a tee without assistance from the coach qualifies the athlete for <strong>Special</strong> <strong>Olympics</strong><br />
Softball Hitting.<br />
Possible Modifications for the MOTOR ACTIVITY TRAINING PROGRAM Softball Strike Activity<br />
Allow athlete to strike ball using one arm<br />
Vary size, weight and color of ball<br />
Vary size, weight and length of bat<br />
Suspend ball within athlete s reach as needed<br />
Use ball with bell inside so bell rings when ball is hit.<br />
Safety Precautions<br />
Provide ample room for activity<br />
Ensure return of a suspended ball does not hit athlete by having a second string that allows the coach to control<br />
the flight of the ball.<br />
Ensure athlete regains balance after hitting ball (does not fall)<br />
Stay within reach of the athlete at all times<br />
Avoid being hit while athlete is using bat by stepping away or using hand over hand assistance.<br />
