The ability to return a tossed ball to the tosser without assistance from the coach may qualify the athlete for the <strong>Special</strong><br />
<strong>Olympics</strong> Return Shot.<br />
Possible Modifications for the MOTOR ACTIVITY TRAINING PROGRAM Table Tennis Strike<br />
Use forearm or backhand strike<br />
Use hand to return ball<br />
Select racquet of appropriate size and weight<br />
Vary size, weight and color of ball<br />
Vary size of table surface<br />
Suspend ball to teach strike<br />
Vary speed of rolled ball<br />
Place bell inside ball to elicit athlete s attention<br />
Have a horn, bell or flashing lights go off when the athlete successfully strikes the ball with the paddle.<br />
Safety Precautions<br />
Stay within reach of the athlete at all times<br />
Ensure athlete maintains balanced position<br />
Provide adequate space for activity<br />
Avoid being hit while athlete holds racquet<br />
