DeWayne Wells Chair Elect Dear Friends of Mercy, I am especially proud and excited to welcome you to the 30th Annual Mercy High School Auction tonight. Reaching such a landmark – three decades of success and support by generations of Mercy parents and volunteers – is truly a remarkable achievement, and one which has been made possible by the unbelievable and continuing enthusiasm and plain old hard work of scores of Mercy parents and friends over the years. Thank you so very much for making this event possible by your support, and for helping us keep Mercy High School vibrant, healthy and growing as we continue to offer such a rich and formative educational experience for our Mercy girls. Through your support, Mercy High School will continue offering its excellent, Christ-centered, college preparatory program to as many deserving girls as possible. Although our 30th anniversary is a milestone of continuity, we are also marking it with a new and exciting change: for the first time ever, we are hosting the Auction in a new location, the Diamond Center at Rock Financial Showplace. This new location gives us more flexibility in designing an auction experience that we hope is better than ever and conducive to a successful event. A special thank-you to John Bowen, one of our Mercy parents, who made it possible for us to use this wonderful space. I also want to recognize and give thanks to all of you who have already contributed so much to the success of tonight’s event, whether by attending or sponsoring a gift-gathering party, making a contribution toward the acquisition of an item, or finding attractive gifts to be auctioned. Your contributions, then and now make all the difference for our Mercy girls, and I appreciate every one of you. I ask you to join me in thanking this year’s Auction Chair, Theresa Saroki, as well as the Committee Chairs and Linda Conradi, our Special Events Coordinator for Mercy’s staff. All of these hard workers, and so many more of you who donated your valuable time and talent, are responsible for organizing and preparing all of the many details of tonight’s event. Of course, the professionalism and high quality of the Mercy Auction would not be possible without our wonderful celebrity co-hosts, Channel 4 News Anchor Steve Garagiola, our unsurpassed Master of Ceremonies, and our professional Auctioneer Joseph DuMouchelle. These men so generously contribute their time and talents to our event each year, please be sure to thank them for all they continue to do to assure our success. I hope you enjoy this special evening in support of Mercy High. Be generous in your bids, you are a crucial part of the largest and most significant fundraiser of our school, benefiting today’s young Mercy women, and building a foundation for the girls who will follow them.
