Rooster will be missed by a lot of people.” According to a report filed by Monroe County Sheriff’s Deputy Chase Nipper, a neighbor identified as Perry Philpott, spotted smoke coming from Dailey’s Church Road home. He hurried to the residence and found Rooster standing in the doorway of her burning house and wrapping her in his jacket carried her to his vehicle, where he called dialed 911. Nipper said he arrived around 12:30 p.m., finding the home fully engulfed in flames. Several men were fighting the fire with water buckets and they directed Nipper to Philpott’s truck, where he found Dailey with burns to her arms, chest, head, and to the right side of her body. Nipper said Dailey communicated with him, giving him her name and age. As Reported to the Officers Monroe County Sheriff’s Captain John Acuff said he investigated a reported wallet theft from a Head of the Creek Road wallet owner on New Years Day. The wallet held $162, a driver’s license, and a social security card, its owner said. Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Cansler said he responded to a call from Happy Hollow Road resident on January 1, when thieves entered a barn and took five garbage bags full of aluminum cans valued at $25. Sheriff’s Deputy Franklin Steele said he filed a report on January 2 regarding the theft of a 1996 Honda CBR 600 motorcycle from an Old Mine Road home. Three hours later, the cycle’s owner called and said he found his bike just down the road in some bushes. Sweetwater Police Patrol Officer Daniel Johnson said he was dispatched on January 2 to Sweetwater-Vonore Road, where a property owner reported the theft of a toolbox and a lawn mower, both valued at $1,500. Deputy Cansler said he met with a Tellico Plains man on January 4 and filed GRAND JURY NOTICE “It is the duty of the Grand Jurors to investigate any public offense which they know or have reason to believe has been committed and which is triable or indictable in this court. On January 5, Sheriff’s Deputy Clint Brookshire said he spoke with a Madisonville resident who allowed a female to sleep over at his home and when he awoke the next day, the female was gone and so was $200 from his billfold. Sheriff’s Deputy Chase Nipper said he arrived at a Presley Road home on January 5, learning of a theft of two marine batteries from a 2003 Triton TR-22 boat. The lost batteries were worth $150, the boat owner said. Deputy Francis was back on January 6, saying he was dispatched to a house on Billingsley Road, where a break-in resulted in the theft of $100 worth of jewelry and $120 cash. Sheriff’s Captain Bill Johnson said he took a report of stolen wheels and tires from a Madisonville man on January 7, the value of the 16 items coming to $2,000.
