BARoqUE To BRoADwAY ~ Songs from the Steeple to the Stage
SATuRdAY, APRIL 13 • 7:30 p.m. SuNdAY, APRIL 14 • 3:00 p.m.
Rolling Bay Presbyterian Church • 11042 Sunrise Dr. NE • Bainbridge Island
We celebrate spring with a journey that begins with the 17th century
motet for double chorus, Nun Danket Alle Gott, by Johann Pachelbel,
best known nowadays for his Canon in D. The journey continues through
the classical and romantic eras with works by Beethoven and Brahms,
pausing at the hauntingly beautiful 20th century Agnus Dei, a choral
setting of Samuel Barber's Adagio for Strings.
In the second half of the program we shift gears to the great musicals of
the late 20th and early 21st century, including selections from Newsies,
Cats, Les Misérables, Phantom of the Opera and Wicked.
Join us for a tour of some of the most appealing and entertaining works
from the Baroque period through the best of Broadway!
