Welcome to our Annual Review
and thank you
Welcome to CILIP’s first Annual Review, which includes highlights from the last
twelve months and what you can expect in the year ahead.
First of all I would like to thank you for your continuing support. Without your
membership and without many of you giving your time and energy to get
involved, we couldn’t have achieved any of this.
It’s been an incredibly busy twelve months. In 2010 a big consultation exercise
with members and non-members about the future of the profession and CILIP
called Defining Our Professional Future led us to create a new organisation
structure and new Vision and Mission to make sure we are focused on members’
priorities. Since 2010 we have continued carrying out research and changing
what we do and how we do it; to make sure that CILIP is the best professional
body it can be.
We know that professional recognition, skills development and Continuous
Professional Development are at the heart of what we offer. That is why we have
revised the Professional Knowledge and Skills Base; a map of the skills required
to work in this sector and a valuable self-assessment tool. Over the next twelve
months you will see this tool develop into a useful, interactive app.
Over the last year we have increased our advocacy activities and grown our
media profile on your behalf. We are improving our communications, refreshing
our website, reviewing how we can most effectively work with regional branches
and special interest groups. We are working to introduce a Virtual Learning
Environment, focusing on the policy priority areas that matter most to members,
we have introduced online renewal and will soon introduce online joining.
A lot has changed and there are many more innovations and improvements to
come. I hope you enjoy our Annual Review.
