Diaper Candidiasis: Oral Treatment Oral treatment – much less commonly used • Oral nystatin suspension can be added to the regimen if there is oral thrush, if the rash is peri-anal, or if it recurs quickly after treatment. Refractory diaper dermatitis may be a marker of an underlying serious metabolic or immunologic disease. Examples include: • Zinc deficiency • Immunodeficiency (e.g. HIV) • Langerhans cell histiocytosis
