1. Introduction Omron Group (hereinafter “Omron”) recognizes that concerning the global environment problems are the most big issues of all human beings. With aiming to solve these issues, We formulated the corporate environmental vision “Green Omron 21” in 2002. And we were promoting green procurement to develop and create the eco-products. After that the laws and legulations of the regulated chemical substances in Chine and the USA ( including RoHS directives in Europe) are being strengtheining, So Omron setts the policy of “Omron procures the parts and materials to provide environmentally warranted products to our customers. “ and implement to investigate the parts and materials of the regulated chemical substances. With the latest revision (August 2012) of the Investigation Manual for Regulated Chemical Substances, the standard for the management is shifted to the regulated substances / applications of JGPSS (see Note 2) Version 4.20. We hope that our suppliers will understand the purpose of our new chemical substance control approach. Notes: 1. RoHS directivesfor “Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances in electrical and electronic equipment.” This is the directive of the Europe Council and Parliament on control of those hazardous substances. Since July 2006, use of six substances, or lead, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, mercury, PBB (polybrominated biphenyls) and PBDE (polybrominated diphenyl ether), in products has been prohibited. 2. JGPSSI (Japan Green Procurement Survey Standardization Initiative) was established in January 2001 by corporations of Japanese electric and electronic equipment industries. Its mission includes standardization of a list of substances subject to investigation and the survey and response format so as to reduce the work load on investigation of parts and materials and improve the quality of response. 1.1 Purpose of this Manual The system of communication between the requester and the respondent with respect to the survey on chemical substances in products, parts or materials is provided by JGPSSI in the form of the manual and tools for answers to the survey. Therefore, you can basically prepare survey data including the amount of content by following the manual provided by JGPSSI, but there are some arrangements to be made among certain corporations. The manual aims to outline the survey and its procedure on chemical substances in products, parts and materials and specify Omron’s individual requirements that are not shown in the JGPSSI manual. While the present manual provides the survey contents common to the entire Omron Group, other contents than provided herein may be used for the survey depending on the nature of the business involved. 1.2 Scope of Survey of Parts and Materials Omron requires your answers to the material composition survey for parts or materials that constitute the following products as well as for those products themselves. In general, the survey items are designated by Omron. Products designed, manufactured and sold by Omron Products sold under the brand name of Omron Products designed and manufactured by Omron under contract with third parties 1.3 Definitions Definitions of terms specifically used in the Manual are given as notes where necessary therein. Other terms are also defined in the Manual issued by JGPSSI 2. Outline of Survey on Parts and Materials Figure 1 shows the image of Survey on Parts and Materials and Enviromental Warranty.And the the procedures are indicated as bellows. (1) Omron enters items in the Survey and Response Format of JGPSSI (JGP file [see Note 1]) and request you (primary suppliers) to conduct the survey. (2) You request your own suppliers (secondary suppliers) to conduct the same survey. (3) Your suppliers (secondary suppliers) provide you with their answers to the survey requested by you. -3/55-
