upon carnal lult, or wanton concupifcence; But by the way <strong>of</strong> Abrahaw-liye<br />

faith and. obedience., unto thee, our God, our Leader, Teacher, Protcftor and Juftifier,<br />

now and <strong>for</strong> ever. And hereunto we call the holy Heavens to be witneflTes , <strong>for</strong> thy honour<br />

and glory (O Almighty God) and our difcharge, now and <strong>for</strong> ever. Amen.<br />

and ordinances <strong>of</strong> God) determination and confideration in thefe<br />

<strong>for</strong>mer A6i ions, that is to fay, appearings, fhevvs made, and voyces<br />

uttered, by the within named in this Book , and the refl <strong>what</strong>foever<br />

Spirits have from the beginning there<strong>of</strong>(which at large by the Records<br />

appeareth) not only doubted and difliked their infinuations and do-<br />

(51 rine uttered, but alfo divers and fundry times ( as coveting to eifchew<br />

and avoid the danger and inconvenience that might either by<br />

them, their felves, or the drift <strong>of</strong> their dodrine enfue , or to my<br />

indamagemcnt divers wayes, happen) fought to depart from the ex-<br />

ercifes there<strong>of</strong> : and withal boldly ( as the fervant <strong>of</strong> the Son <strong>of</strong><br />

God) inveighed againft them ; urging them to depart, or render bet-<br />

ter reafon <strong>of</strong> their unknown and uncredible words and Speeches de-<br />

livered \ and withall <strong>of</strong>ten and fundry times friendly exhorted the<br />

Right Worfhipful Mafter JOHN DEE (the chief follower there<strong>of</strong>)<br />

as alfo in the Records appeareth, to regard his fouls health, the good<br />

proceeding <strong>of</strong> his wordly credit (which through Europe is great) the<br />

better maintenance to come <strong>of</strong> his wife and children , to beware <strong>of</strong><br />

them,and withall to give them over : wherein although I friendly and<br />

brotherly laboured, my labour feemed to be l<strong>of</strong>t and counfel <strong>of</strong> him<br />

and withall was urged with replies to the contrary by him<br />

made, and promifes, in that cafe, o'f the l<strong>of</strong>s <strong>of</strong> his fouls health, if they<br />

were not <strong>of</strong> God : Whereunto upon as it were (bme farther tafte <strong>of</strong><br />

them, or opinion grounded upon the frailty <strong>of</strong> zeal, he ceafed not al-<br />

fo to pawn unto me his foul, &c. which his perfwafions were the<br />

chiefand onely caufe <strong>of</strong> my this fo long proceeding with them : And<br />

now alfo at this inftant , and be<strong>for</strong>e a few dayes having manifeft oc-<br />
