Invitation It is with great pleasure that I invite you to participate in our flagship event for 2010 - 'Australia’s Energy – Next Generation’. The efficient conversion, distribution and use of energy in Australia is a cornerstone of our economy. However, like most advanced economies, Australia needs to greatly reduce its emissions from energy conversion and use. This challenge will stimulate a major restructure in the way we produce electricity, and use other forms of energy. But our challenge is not only in the technology and engineering that provide these solutions, but also to our 'next generation' of energy professionals. The conference organisers are to be commended for providing a focus on the incoming energy professions – Young Energy Professionals (YEPs). It is this group of energy engineers, economists, lawyers and other professionals that will set the scene for our energy future. In the absence of a clear national energy policy this is a challenging task.
