We also employ elliptical training in combination with 10 channels of electrical stimulation and a BWS harness for upright standing and stepping training. This combines the benefits of upright stepping with those of stimulating muscles that are weak or not able to contract independently. Over-ground walking training with the addition of FES can improve locomotion in patients with motor incomplete neurologic injuries and disease. These systems activate the nerves of the lower leg that control the muscles that lift the foot when walking. These tools are integrated into a client’s individualized plan of care by highly trained staff based on the most recent evidence-based practice and clinical experience, and are dependent on a client’s goals.
