2.4 Terms and definitions<br />

General terms and definitions helpful for understanding the INSPIRE data specification documents are<br />

defined in the INSPIRE Glossary 15 .<br />

Specifically, for the theme Species Distribution, the following terms are defined:<br />

(1) Aggregation<br />

To form multiple objects into a class or cluster.<br />

(2) Amalgamation<br />

To combine multiple objects to form one structure.<br />

2.6 Notation of requirements and recommendations<br />

To make it easier to identify the mandatory requirements and the recommendations for spatial data<br />

sets in the text, they are highlighted and numbered.<br />

IR Requirement X Requirements that are reflected in the Implementing Rule on interoperability<br />

of spatial data sets and services are shown using this style.<br />

TG Requirement X Requirements that are not reflected in the Implementing Rule on<br />

interoperability of spatial data sets and services are shown using this style.<br />

Recommendation X Recommendations are shown using this style.<br />

2.7 Conformance<br />

TG Requirement 1 Any dataset claiming conformance with this INSPIRE data specification shall<br />

pass the requirements described in the abstract test suite presented in Annex<br />

A.<br />

3 Specification scopes<br />

This data specification does not distinguish different specification scopes, but just considers one<br />

general scope.<br />

NOTE For more information on specification scopes, see [ISO 19131:2007], clause 8 and Annex D.<br />
