2011 <strong>IVP</strong> <strong>Program</strong> Application<br />

The success <strong>of</strong> the <strong>IVP</strong> program depends on the vested participation <strong>of</strong> the PSU hosting<br />

department. The campus and community continue to benefit from the innovative efforts<br />

and collaboration host pr<strong>of</strong>essors and departments bring to the <strong>IVP</strong> program.<br />

2011 <strong>IVP</strong> <strong>Program</strong> Campus and Community Engagement<br />

The <strong>IVP</strong> program continues to strive to meet the evolving needs <strong>of</strong> students,<br />

participants, departments and the community. As we proceed we consider the PSU<br />

motto Let Knowledge Serve the City.<br />

Expectations <strong>of</strong> PSU Hosting Departments and <strong>IVP</strong> Participants:<br />

1. -Host pr<strong>of</strong>essor and <strong>IVP</strong> should plan to attend the <strong>IVP</strong> reception to be held during the<br />

summer term.<br />

2. -Host department should arrange at least one community lecture or discussion group<br />

for an <strong>of</strong>f-campus community or pr<strong>of</strong>essional organization or group related to the<br />

<strong>IVP</strong>’s area <strong>of</strong> expertise.<br />

3. -If requested by <strong>IVP</strong> program committee, support the <strong>IVP</strong> in providing a lecture in the<br />

award-winning Tour the World lecture series during the Summer Session.<br />

4. -Engage the <strong>IVP</strong> in the host pr<strong>of</strong>essor’s department’s activities and research where<br />

appropriate.<br />

Expectations <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Office</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>International</strong> <strong>Affairs</strong>:<br />

1. Provide visa assistance to selected <strong>IVP</strong>s<br />

2. Provide local housing identification assistance to selected <strong>IVP</strong>s<br />

3. Communicate regularly with <strong>IVP</strong> participants to ensure <strong>IVP</strong>s remain engaged in<br />

community and campus activities.<br />

4. Host <strong>IVP</strong> summer reception<br />

5. Provide on-going visa status advising for <strong>IVP</strong> and accompanying family members<br />

6. Coordinate and manage 2011 Tour the World Lecture Series<br />

7. Provide <strong>IVP</strong> program promotion and advertising.<br />

Expectation <strong>of</strong> Selected <strong>International</strong> Visiting Pr<strong>of</strong>essors (<strong>IVP</strong>s):<br />

1. -Contribute to 2011 <strong>IVP</strong> mission through classroom teaching and community lectures<br />

and engagement.<br />

2. -Attend <strong>IVP</strong> reception to be held during the summer term.<br />

3. -Communicate with <strong>Office</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>International</strong> <strong>Affairs</strong> regarding visa assistance and<br />

accommodations assistance.<br />

4. -If requested provide a lecture in the award-winning Tour the World lecture series<br />

during the Summer Session.<br />

5. -Engage in host department’s activities and community engagement efforts.<br />
