completely dry prior to storage
Do not place objects on the unit or this may cause damage to the casing
Instructions on Using the Cooler Blocks
1. Open the water inlet and remove the cooler blocks from the unit
2. Release the cover on the block in a counter-clockwise direction
3. Fill the cooler blocks with water up the fill level
4. Tighten the cover in a clockwise direction and shake the cooler to
ensure the ice crystals reach full saturation
5. Place cooler blocks in home freezer for a minimum of three hours
6. Remove from freezer and place in water reservoir filled with water
7. Enjoy even cooler airflow
Precautions
1. Do not empty refrigerants from the cooler block
2. It is not necessary to re-fill the cooler block with water – only to refreeze
3. If the refrigerants are eaten or consumed please consult your doctor
immediately
4. If refrigerants enter the eye, flush with plenty of clean water and
consult your doctor immediately
Safety Instructions
When using any electrical appliance, basic safety precautions should be
followed.
1. Prior to using the air cooler check the power cord for any signs of
damage – do not use if the power cord is frayed or there are exposed
wires
2. Place the air cooler on a firm, flat level surface
3. Always place the air cooler away from heat sources such as ovens,
stoves, radiators, or heaters as these can damage the unit
4. Place the air cooler in an area where it is not accessible to children and
with the power cord positioned so that it is not a trip hazard
5. Always unplug and empty the air cooler before serving or cleaning
6. Never try turning on the power while the unit is unplugged
7. Never tilt or attempt to move the air cooler while it is operating
8. Always unplug the air cooler prior to any movement
9. Turn the air cooler off if the relative humidity is very high

10. When not in use, unplug and empty the air cooler and wrap the power
cord for safety storage
Operating Instructions
1. Before filling the air cooler make sure the unit is unplugged
2. Open the water inlet and fill the water reservoir with cold, clean water.
Before doing so ensure the rubber plug is located correctly
3. Do not use hot water and never add chemicals or solutions to the
water
4. Fill the reservoir only to the water line indicator to avoid overfilling
5. After filling, close the water inlet securely. Use care when transporting
filled air cooler
6. Place the water-filled air cooler on a firm, flat and level surface. To
safeguard fine wood finishes place a protective covering between the
air cooler and surface
7. Plug air cooler into socket outlet and switch on the machine. Do not
plug in the air cooler with wet hands
8. The water will last between 22 and 24 hours – check water level
periodically
9. Do not block the suction and exhaust openings. If they are blocked it
will affect not only the operational effectiveness but also the normal
operation of the machine
10. Never lift the lid off the water inlet violently as damage to the hinges
will occur
11. If the water reservoir is over-filled remove rubber plug and discharge
water from the container
12. The air cooler produces cooler airflow if the frozen cooler blocks are
placed in the water reservoir
Cleaning
1. Never immerse the power cord in water as electric shock may occur as
a result
2. Periodic cleaning is required for proper operational effectiveness of the
unit
3. Tap water may contain impurities or dissolved solids that could leave a
residue and deposit upon the inner surface of the water tank and
promote the growth of algae or bacteria. It is recommended that you
clean this air cooler often in areas where the tap water is poorer. More
frequent cleaning may be necessary where you see a heavy build-up of
impurities or notice the presence of an unpleasant odour. Never use
abrasive cleaners when cleaning this unit
To clean the air cooler use the following steps:
1. Unplug the air cooler
2. Remove the filter and wash it under running water
3. Empty the water tank, remove the rear casing and wash the water
reservoir tank with mild soap detergent.

4. Rinse with clean tap water
5. To remove scales or lime deposits, fill the water tank with water and a
mixture of 200ml of white vinegar. Use a soft cloth or soft brush to
clean the tank
6. For external cleaning only use mild detergents. Do not use products
containing alcohol or benzene
Storage
1. Clean and dry the air cooler thoroughly as per the cleaning instructions
above
2. Ensure all components are dry. Do not leave any water in the air cooler
when storing. Water left in the air cooler may cause deposits or
bacterial growth which could impair the units performance
Whilst Using the Air Cooler
When using this unit the external of the appliance may create condensed
water drips due to the ambient temperature and relative humidity conditions.
The water drips are not due to malfunction or leakage of the unit. Please
remove water drips with a soft cloth and if necessary place a tray under the
unit
Maintenance
Discharge the water reservoir regularly and dry the unit
in a well-ventilated place. To discharge the water remove
the plug at the back of the unit
If the power cord is damaged it must be fixed by its service agent, or a
similarly qualified person on order to avoid electric shock hazard
After discharging the water, make sure the internals of the unit is completely
dry. To speed up the drying you may turn on the air cooler and press the
‘high’ speed switch. It takes approximately one hour to dry the unit
completely
Offensive odour or weak airflow can result from particles attached to the back
filter pad. Remove the filter pad, wash it in neutral detergent and dry before
replacing
To clean the outside of the unit wipe with a soft cloth
Never immerse the complete unit in water
Never use chemical solutions such as bleach or oil on the casing

If the Air Cooler is Not Working as Expected…
Q The air is not as cool as expected
A Fill the water in the water reservoir and add the frozen cooler blocks
Q The airflow is weak
A Check the filter is clean. Clean the filter in mild detergent and dry
before replacing
Q There is no power output
A Check the air cooler is plugged in to an appropriate socket. If the
power is off via the Time, turn on the power switch to Normal
operation
Q Other abnormal conditions
A Unplug the power cord from the wall and contact your nearest Maplin
store for repairing. All information can be found on www.maplin.co.uk
