Eight of the mercury levels above 1.0 mg/kg, while 25 exceeded 0.50 mg/kg, though these averages were often based on just two samples from a single site. The most striking aspect of the results was the very marked difference in average mercury locations. Fish bought in Jharkhali contained on average 1.452 mg/kg of mercury, and 100 percent of the 16 samples (all eight species) from that location exceeded 0.50 mg/kg.
