Living at the DA lab
For current students in the postdiploma
Recording Industry Digital
Applications program at Fanshawe,
the DA lab is their home away from
home. Set up in 2000 and located
in D-1046 at the London campus,
the lab includes the digital audio
work station above. Here, professor
Steve Malison shows students
how to edit and mix sound to
picture within a MIDI/digital multimedia
environment. The system
is completely fi le-based and fi nal
output can be cut directly to DVD.
Stuart Brawley
inspires students in
Studio Two
Stuart Brawley (MIA-Recording
Engineering 94) took a break from
his Backyard Recording Studio in
Sherman Oaks, California in March
2004 to visit back at Fanshawe for
a recording studio workshop. His
expertise and success in mixing
and recording for some of the
world’s top international artists
inspired students as he shared
professional tips and personal
experiences. Stu has engineered
records for Michael Jackson, Don
Henley, Seal, The Eagles, Cher,
NSYNC, Barbra Streisand, and
Celine Dion. He has also worked
with some totally cool up-andcomers
including the next great
band from the great white north,
STRADIO. Stu is shown above
