Bucharest Ilfov Region Agriculture still occupies an important place, hav<strong>in</strong>g large reserves<br />

of development, determ<strong>in</strong>ed by soil <strong>quality</strong>, climate fac<strong>to</strong>rs, technical equipment <strong>and</strong><br />

materials <strong>and</strong> labor (or work with<strong>in</strong> major research <strong>in</strong>stitutes <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> field). However,<br />

productivity is lower productivity sec<strong>to</strong>r registered <strong>in</strong> EU countries due <strong>to</strong> <strong>in</strong>sufficient<br />

technical equipment, small scale agricultural enterprises, which represent obstacles <strong>to</strong><br />

effective development. Also, irrigation systems are underdeveloped.<br />

Romanian agriculture rema<strong>in</strong>s a subsistence agriculture, structural problems of its are<br />

difficult <strong>to</strong> solve.The fact that soils are <strong>in</strong> a process of cont<strong>in</strong>uous degradation <strong>in</strong> South-<br />

West Oltenia <strong>and</strong> all over Romania makes <strong>the</strong> problem of l<strong>and</strong> upgrades <strong>to</strong> be particularly<br />

acute because <strong>the</strong> l<strong>and</strong> is affected by several limit<strong>in</strong>g fac<strong>to</strong>rs of productive capacity<br />

(frequent droughts, erosion soil water, excess water frequently <strong>in</strong> soil compaction due <strong>to</strong><br />

improperly performed work.<br />
