Government Council of <strong>Pennsauken</strong><br />
Township, who, along with several local<br />
businesses, decided to help clean up<br />
“Peter J.” as a birthday present.<br />
“This monument has real importance,<br />
not just to <strong>Pennsauken</strong>, but to the<br />
whole country,” says Tim Ellis, chairperson,<br />

Arlington Cemetery and parent<br />
company Stonemor, L.P. worked closely<br />
with the B.I.G. Council to move the<br />
project forward. Jim Whitley, superintendent<br />
at Arlington Cemetery who<br />
was instrumental in the cleanup, was<br />
impressed with the level of cooperation<br />
by all involved. “Everyone really came<br />
together on this. I’m happy, not just for<br />
the cemetery, but the community too. I<br />
think a lot of people who come to see<br />
the monument are going to be pleased.”<br />

years. Juhas stressed the importance of<br />
giving back. “It was for a really good<br />
cause, and it made me feel good to be<br />
part of giving back. It’s important for<br />
people and businesses to step up and<br />
help support the community.”<br />
The B.I.G Council would also like to<br />
thank Primerica, Ellis and Associates;<br />
Penn Florist; Bello Irrigation; Stevens<br />
Management; Plant Artistry, LLC; and<br />
the Merchantville <strong>Pennsauken</strong> Water<br />
Commission for their integral help for<br />
the beautification of the memorial in<br />
time for 118th Annual Peter J. McGuire<br />
Labor Day Observance, held on Friday,<br />
Aug. 31.<br />
Successful Food Drive Continues<br />
To date, the B.I.G. Council has collected<br />
over 360 pounds of food for The<br />
Food Bank of South Jersey on a summer<br />
food collection drive.<br />
