The “Word” from your High <strong>School</strong> Library<br />

<strong>Pennsbury</strong> provides access to multiple databases to help student research. These databases<br />

provide credible information and should be the first place to go when researching. Not only<br />

can students access these databases at school, they are also available from home! Here are<br />

some databases we offer. For home access, please stop in and see one of the librarians for<br />

passwords:<br />

Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center— A one-stop source for information on today's hottest social issues.<br />

Great source for persuasive papers, debates and speeches.<br />

Biography Resource Center— Includes full-text articles from hundreds of periodicals and reference sources.<br />

Great biographical information on more than 185,000 people from Nostradamus to Julia Roberts.<br />

Gale Virtual Reference Library (e-books) - A database of reference sources for multidisciplinary research.<br />

These materials once were accessible only in the library, but now you can access them online from the library or<br />

remotely 24/7.<br />

Salem Databases (History, Health and Literature) (e-books) - A database of resources related to certain topics<br />

of history, health and literature. Now, the more popular books from this publisher are accessible online.<br />

Issues and Controversies – Helps researchers understand the crucial issues we face today. This database is great<br />

for research papers and debate preparation.<br />

InfobasePublishing –– Assorted e-books from Chelsea House’s literary criticism collections edited by Harold<br />

Bloom. The place to go for the critical essays you need for your English assignments.<br />

Power Library-- The POWER library allows you to access thousands of full text periodical articles, newspapers, a<br />

major encyclopedia, plus photographs, pictures, charts, maps, reference materials for young people and more. You<br />

will find materials of interest in most subject areas for all age groups from young children to adults.<br />

Contemporary Literary Criticism Select --An extensive collection of critical essays on contemporary authors.<br />

Each entry contains a biographical/critical introduction, listing of principal works and sources for further study.<br />

World Book Encyclopedia --Access to the World Book Encyclopedia Reference Center, an atlas, and a<br />

dictionary. Great site for quick references.<br />
