ANd lOOkINg TO THE FUTURE
MARCIA sElsOR, pOTTERs COUNCIl pREsIdENT
2008 has been a busy year for everyone and I hope the economy has not wreaked havoc on your
seasonal sales. The Board members of the Potters Council have been working on an exhibition
proposal for the 2010 NCECA Conference in Philadelphia. We hope the proposal will be accepted by
the NCECA Conference Committee. It will offer members the opportunity to participate in a juried
exhibition that would be included in the NCECA program and bus routes. The gallery is in easy
walking distance to the conference center, roughly seven blocks south of Marlet Street in the Antique
District, along Pine St.
Our proposed exhibition entitled “FIll-adelphia,” will be open to members of the Potters Council to
submit for inclusion in the juried exhibition. We have secured Sherman Hall, Editor of Ceramics
Monthly, as the juror. We are confident that he will select a quality and diverse selection from the
entries. Included in this issue of the Potters Council Newsletter are the further details. We have also
put all the information online for easy reference.
We know that this exhibition will show the wide variety and professional caliber of the Potters Council
Membership. The opportunity to exhibit during the NCECA conference is an excellent promotional
tool for members as well. The Gallery owners are excited by the prospect of the exhibition and sales are
encouraged. I would like to thank our Board member, Chris Campbell, for scouting out an appropriate
gallery for our exhibition. I hope people will read the exhibition requirements and consider entering
the show.
In the meantime, the Phoenix NCECA conference will be coming around the corner in April. I
hope people will stop by the Potters Council booth that includes Ceramics Monthly, Pottery Making
Illustrated and Ceramic Arts Daily. Our Board members will be there to answer questions. We have
added some great benefits this year; for example, health insurance. Please stop by and give us your
views, suggestions, or just visit. I wish all of you a peaceful and enjoyable 2009.
