3 SPECIAL INFORMATION, EXAMPLE: SCIENTISTS
The information for the new providers is made available in different areas of the page. There is an
introductory paragraph and several boxes which link to relevant documentation. As an example, the page for
Scientists at http://helpdesk.open-up.eu/scientists is shown in Figure 2.
The documents provided below are meant to give scientists in the natural history domain the most
important information about the OpenUp! project, technical aspects, as well as the organisational workflows
to provide content from the institution to Europeana and GBIF.
In the box ‘Key documents’ users find documentation and an introductory article about the project from a
scientific e-journal. The ‘Important links’ relate to the OpenUp! newsletter, a list of natural history museums
and botanical gardens providing content via OpenUp! and a link to the OpenUp! content in Europeana.
Further links are given to the GBIF Data Portal, the BioCASE Europe Site and the EDIT Collection Data Portal.
They provide additional insight and promote the use of BioCASe.
In ‘Next steps’ information is given how to get in contact with the OpenUp! Helpdesk.
