Recruiting Game
AFTER THE PARTY DEMONSTRATION:
Play the 10-ticket game.
Make sure the questions are about your job and not product related questions.
As they ask questions give them a ticket.
Now pass everyone a piece of paper to put their name on and ask them to answer these
five questions for you.
1. What is the best think you heard about my job?
2. What is your personal work schedule now? (Full time, part time, or homemaker.)
3. What would you do with $400 extra at the end of the month?
4. What would stop you from doing what I do for just one month?
5. If there were no obligation and just information, would you like more information
on part time, full time, or just to satisfy your curiosity. Yes, No, Maybe.
Collect and conduct a drawing for a nice piece of Tupperware or customer game gift,
analyze the answers to see who your next recruits will be.
Are you eating Plastic?
Article from Ontario’s Common Ground Magazine
March 1997
Many people trust government agencies to guarantee food safety, but the actions
of these bureaucracies may be influenced by political or economic concerns. Perhaps that
explains why potential toxic plastic residues are allowed in our food.
Britain’s Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, found traces of plasticizers
in every food sample taken since 1993. High levels were found in chocolate, potato chips,
infant formula, margarine, vegetable oil and milk products. Packaged foods such as
candy and cakes also contained high levels, as did cheese wrappers with PVC film. Every
baby formula tested was tainted with plasticizers, and the most contaminated brands had
concentrations only four times lower than levels show to reduce sperm count in rats.
1992 Australian standard (AS 2070) warned food manufacturers that biologically
active substances could migrate into food through plastic packaging with possible toxic
effects the law stated are possible where small quantities are ingested over a long period
of time.
The manufacturer of PVC plastic products requires a deadly cocktail of chemicals
many of which are potential carcinogens. These chemicals can also disrupt normal
hormonal function and lead to impaired reproductive ability, menstrual disorders,
impotence, uterine fibroids and sperm abnormalities. Adverse birth effects due to
exposure may include spontaneous abortion. Congenital defects and childhood cancer.
Food is not the only pathway into our bodies for toxic plastics. Medical treatments
using plastic devices, as well as blood stored in PVC bags for transfusions are other
known sources.
Testicular atrophy has been observed in patients undergoing regular dialysis (a
process in which a great quantity of blood is run through plastic tubing.)
Not all plastics appear to be harmful. Polypropylene, for example, is one of the
most chemically inert plastics.
-- so safe it is even used for medical syringes. Tupperware products are made of this
material. (Polypropylene)
Higher temperatures cause molecules to become more unstable, so heating plastic
food and drink containers, whether in the microwave or just leaving them in the hot care,
can cause potentially toxic plastic molecules to be released into their contents.
Smidget Dating Game
I’m going to pass around my Smidget game, everyone choose a
smidget, hey can be used for keeping loonies and toonies as well as
quarters in so you will never be completely broke. Use them to keep
hand cream in, or a cotton ball soaked in perfume. Pills, breath mints.
Use them when you’re traveling for shampoo and cream rinse, and a
hundred other things.
I want everyone to take one but don’t open it.
Now every smidget has a piece of paper inside. Some of them say
gift and party, some say just gift, one of them says Mystery Gift. What
ever you get you keep.
There are only two rules to his game. First rule is you do not have to
play if you don’t want too. Second rule is if you pick gift I will honor
that and give you the gift. On the other hand if you pick and your
smidget says party then you must honor that party. FAIR???
Everyone can open their smidget right away, or wait and bring it to
you at order taking time. At order taking time you would encourage
them to open it or put it back in the container. This game should be
fun and upbeat remember the person getting the party is going to be
the person getting all the free Tupperware at her party.
Good luck and remember to DATE IN CLOSE.

Please note that this is not a true tale about Tupperware and that Tupperware
takes no responsibility for anything I am about to say and I hope that the big
bosses at Tupperware Head Quarters have a good sense of humor.
The story starts with an imaginary Tupperware consultant name Tootsie. Now
Tootsie sold Tupperware in an imaginary town called Tupperwood especially by
the residents who organized their cupboards using Tupperware storage
containers. They knew that their cupboards were the best-organized and freshest
in town thanks to Tupperware and Tootsie.
Tootsie’s friend Tipsy had Tupperware Knives as she was constantly canning
and baking. She also used Tupperware’s Thatsa bowl mixing bowls and cooking
utensils.
Yes, Tupperwood was a happy, happy place. Children played with Tupperware
toys, moms and dads used Tupperware very everything imaginable.
One day, Tootsie was loading up her van with Tupperware prior to going to do a
Tupperware demonstration (Tupperware was her full time career). She loved
working for Tupperware because, as a Manager, Tupperware paid for the leasing
of her van, her insurance and her license. She placed a basket of Tupperware
inside the hatch and counted her Smidgets. She had twenty-seven Tupperware
Smidgets. She bustled around busily. She needed lots of Smidgets as she
always played the Smidget game at her demonstrations and she knew that the
residents of Tupperwood would be looking forward to receiving Tupperware
prizes. She double-checked and counted the Smidgets again. Yes, there were
twenty-seven.
Soon she was on her way, zooming along the street in her terrific Tupperware
van. Alas! Her hatch was not latched and Tupperware danced merrily behind the
van as she drove along.
Children dashed out to collect Smidgets and Midgets and glorious stuff. Oldtimers
talked excitedly about the last time Tupperware had rained down on the
town. That was way back in 47’ when the old Tupperware Warehouse has blown
up.
Tootsie learned a sad lesson from all of this
Don’t count your Smidgets unless they’re latched.

A Tale of Two Hostesses
Congratulations! You’ve been booked a Tupperware Party.
You’re getting FREE tools, you couldn’t say NO!!
Here’s a tale of two hostesses, as you can see,
So listen and pick which one you will be.
First there was Mary, so proper was she,
Her invitations were written in calligraphy!
“I’ll just invite ten, I don’t know too many.
I’m sure they’ll all come, so there will be plenty.”
She forgot to remind them to bring a friend.
“I’m not sure that many chairs will fit in my den.”
Her beautiful catalogue sat at home on a table.
“Outside orders? Oh, I wasn’t able.”
She fixed a buffet fit for a king,
But forgot to give guests a reminder ring.
The night of her show, her home looked just great.
So she lit the candles and proceeded to wait.
Only one guest arrived, the tools to see.
“Why,” asked Mary, does this happen to me?”
And then there was Vanessa, so excited was she.
She was planning on earning whatever she dreamed.
She mailed 40 invitations, and then she told
More people than her house could possibly hold.
People wanted to know what she was talking about
So she’d stop and pull her Tupperware catalogue out.
She bragged on about Tupperware and the great warranty.
She called them all and said, “please bring a friend
And don’t forget the prize you might win!”
They sat on her sofa; they sat on her floor,
They sat in the chairs; they stood in the door!!
The house wasn’t perfect, but they laughed anyway.
They had a good time buying kitchen containers that day!
The numbers were added, mega things she had won!
“WOW!,” she exclaimed, “This was Really Fun.”
The Moral of this story won’t leave you to brood,
Concentrate on your guests, not your home and food!

The following article was published in the Hamilton Spectator
On January 2, 2003.
AT YOUR OWN RISK
If you thought that aged, stained coffee mugs were dangerous…now there’s
worry about reusing water bottles.
Jen Horsey
The Canadian Press
While people may thing they’re doing a good deed for the environment
when they reuse water bottles for anything from orange juice in a bagged lunch
to a week’s worth of water refills from the office water cooler, researchers say
they could be risking their health.
Potentially lose plastic compounds have been found in the types of water
bottles typically reused in classrooms and work places country wide. The water
bottles are meant for one use or only a few uses. After a month or more the
plastic can breakdown. The study also found bacteria in water bottles reused for
juice and drinks by children when they are not regularly washed.
A study of water bottles at a Calgary elementary school found bacteria in
kids’ bottles that would prompt health officials to issue boil water advisories, had
the samples come from a tap? Researchers discovered bacterial contamination
in about a third of the samples collected from kids’ water bottles at the school.
Some samples even showed evidence of fecal coliform.
“If a town water supply had fecal coliform in it, it would have to be shut
down.” Said Cathy Ryan of the University of Calgary professor who authored the
study.
The bacteria likely came from the kids’ hands and mouths over time, as
hey repeatedly used the same bottles and neither they nor their parents washed
them at home at night Ryan said. “They sit there fighting with their water bottles,
and they’re not very good about washing their hands,” She said.
She conducted the study out of curiosity after she realized the bottles
being used by her young son and his classmates throughout the day weren’t
being washed out.” She said. Ryan herself admits she doesn’t always wash her
own water bottle, Instead she lets the bottle she keeps at her desk air-dry
overnight to kill off any bacteria.
While researchers in her study-collected samples from only 76 bottles at
one elementary school, which has not been identified. Ryan said the results
would likely be the same anywhere else. “I have no reason to believe these kids
do a poorer job of washing their hands than in any other elementary school,” She

said. When the study results were published in the Canadian Journal of Public
Health in the fall, the local school board advised parents to make sure kids’
bottles were taken home and washed properly and frequently. And a study
conducted in the United States suggests the kind of thorough washing that could
kill bacteria might make these particular types of bottles unsafe in another way.
Frequent washing might accelerate the breakdown of plastic, potentially
causing chemicals to leach into the water the study found. Preliminary research
conducted by a graduate student at the University of Idaho found that with
repeated use, toxic chemical compounds could migrate out of the bottles into the
liquid inside.
Although plastics experts contend commercial water bottles are safe, the
study ultimately concluded little is known about what happens when the bottles
are used over and over again. “The fact is, a lot of these compounds have not
really been studied in terms of their human health effects,” said Margrit Von
Braun, a University of Idaho professor.
Single use soft drink and water bottles are commonly made of a plastic
called polyethylene terephthalate (PET) which, while considered safe for its
intended use was found to break down over time. “The longer you used it, the
more stuff ended up in the water”, said Von Braun.
One of the toxins that frequently appeared in the water samples from the
reused bottles was DEHA. A carcinogen regulated in drinking water because it
has been found to cause weight loss, live problems, or possible reproductive
difficulties. It is also suspected that DEHA can cause cancer in humans.
Van Braun said she was surprised to discover how widespread the reuse
was --- and how long some people would hold on to a single bottle. “A lot of
people use them for weeks, and sometimes months, literally until its leaking.”
Said Von Braun. One survey of the school found someone who has been reusing
the same bottle for six months.
The Canadian Bottled Water Association advises against reusing the
containers altogether. It says the containers are made for single use and should
be recycled afterward, not reused.
People would be unable to properly sterilize the bottles at home, and the
industry doesn’t evaluate the safety of the bottles for multiple uses, Said
Elizabeth Griswald, executive director of the Canadian Bottled Water
Association.

What you need to know about your microwave’s WATTAGE…
The wattage of your microwave is the most important thing you
need to know when you are doing any microwave cooking. It is just
as important as knowing the over temperature when you are baking.
The AVERAGE WATTAGE of a microwave is 700-725 watts.
This is the power that is the basis for cooking times in most
microwave recipes, unless specified differently. This would be like an
“average” oven temperature of 350 degrees. For comparison…
700 Watts in microwave >> like cooking at 350 degrees
800 Watts >> 450 degrees
900 Watts >> 525 degrees (Self clean)
1000 Watts >> 575 degrees
1100 Watts >> 625 degrees (Blow torch!!)
The big problem is that very few people know what the wattage
of their microwave is, much less what to do to compensate for today’s
high powered ovens. The “Tim Taylor Philosophy!” More power is not
necessarily better.
To find your oven’s wattage look on the inside of the door, on
the back, or in “an under the hood fan” model, underneath
For each 100 watts your microwave is over the average of 700,
you should decrease EITHER the cooking TIME or POWER LEVEL
by 10% (i.e. If you have a 100 watt microwave, that is ~300 watts
over the average. Therefore, when following a recipe, cook on
POWER 7 or 8, depending on the time of day.) Reverse for lower
wattage (500 – 600) ovens.
Remember – It takes two minutes to boil a mug of water in a 700watt
oven. In a 1200-watt oven, it will take 45-50 seconds!! Two
minutes on HIGH power is an eternity in a 1200-watt microwave!!

1 ½ minutes. Stir in Rice Krispies and 1 tsp. Vanilla until well blended.
Wet hands and press into bottom of container. Cut with plastic knife
(Sandwich Spreader) when cool.
MICROWAVED ANGELFOOD CAKE
½ box (1 ¼ cups) One step Angelfood Cake Mix
2/3 cup cold water
Mix together in Large Mix and store Pitcher, for no more than 30-40
seconds, or just until well mixed. Do not overbeat. Pour into
ungreased Tupperware 3L casserole that has the Cone in it. Let
stand 3 minutes. Cook on High power for 4-5 minutes. Do not
overcook. Cake will still be sticky on top. Invert onto a tumbler or
Snack Cup until cool.
Microwave Oven: - a six-sided metal box, with metal screen in door
Microwaves are generated by the magnatron, behind control panel.
From top down and outside into center
Wattage: 700-725 watts is full-power microwave. Look for wattage on
back of oven - - key word – WATTAGE (OR POWER)OUTPUT. Less

than 625 watts just means longer cooking times. More wattage -- less
cooking time.
-Turnable or no? . . If none, rotating metal fan at top of oven to
disperse microwaves evently. Essentially no difference in cooking.
Slight disadvantage with turnable -- limits size and shape of
cookware.
-Ovens built since early 1980’s have stringent manufacturing
standards. SAFE! ( as much chance of radiation as tanning by
moonlight
-Glass tray in the bottom of oven makes clean-up easier, plus
elevates food for more efficient cooking.
Microwave Trivia: - 4 ½ inches long, ½ inch wide. Produced by
magnatron, emitted at rate of 1 ½ billion per second. Travel at speed
of light, only go 5 feet before dissipating. Too wide to go through
holes in screen on door.
-Are reflected off metal, pass through glass, Styrofoam, plastic, etc.
-Absorbed ONLY by WATER, FAT, and SUGAR molecules.
Penetrate foods 1-1/2 inches. Energy absorbed causes molecules to
rub together… FRICTION… HEAT… cooks food.
-STAND TIME – 20% of cooking time after timer done, during which
food continues to cook.
-If they have nothing to work on, will go back home to magnatron.
Therefore, never run microwave empty, including popping plain
popcorn.
-PEAK POWER CONSUMPTION PERIODS: Breakfast time, lunch,
suppertime. Not as much power available—off times, foods will cook
faster.
Rules Of Thumb:
1. The more dense the food, the longer to cook (eg.
Potatoes longer than broccoli). Liquids heat fastest,
especially sugary and fatty ones.
2. The smaller the pieces, the faster It will cook (eg. Diced
potatoes faster than baked)
3. Liquids attract microwaves first, therefore always DRAIN
BETWEEN BATCHES.
4. Arrange thickets parts of food to outside of casserole.
Cone in center if necessary.

Microwave MAGIC TRICK:
Demonstrates use of foil in microwave, plus illustrates microwave
EFFICIENCY vs. SAFETY
You need – 2 Styrofoam cups, ½ cup chocolate chips, water,
Tupperware Cone, a piece of Pyrex or Corning ware
Fill one cup with cold water, other with chocolate chips. Wrap chips
cup completely in foil (Shiny side or dull side irrelevant.)
Temperature test water, chips, Cone, Pyrex. Place all in microwave,
cook on High power 2.2.5 minutes. Temperature test again.
CAUTION: If any arcing occurs, stop microwave IMMEDIATELY, and
smooth out foil.
FOIL USE Rules of thumb:
1. Must have 4 times more EXPOSED food mass as foil
mass.
2. Keep foil 1 inch from sides of oven
APPLICATIONS: - Large quantities of hamburger, defrost just what
you need. Shield thin parts of chickens or hams. Use on corners of
rectangular pans to deflect microwaves to center. Foil pie plates, T.V.
dinners.
SAFETY vs. EFFICIENCY: Many materials are microwave safe, very
few are microwave efficient.
-Being efficient means that energy and time are not wasted heating
the container itself.
-Pyrex, Corning Ware, Visions etc. all like to be hot first and longest.
They contain metal (nickel) which creates ‘invisible light shows.’
-20% cooking time is spent heating container, out of oven container
draws heat from food.
-To test at home: Place your container in microwave, (along with a
cup of water to absorb microwaves), cook on High for 2-2.5 minutes.
If container is not virtually the same temperature as when you put it
in, it is not microwave efficient.

ADVANTAGES OF TUPPERWAVE COOKWARE: Cuts cooking
time by 15-20% over Corning etc.
-Handles stay cool, no potholders needed. Food stays hot longer.
Keep covered after cooking, Tupperwave becomes a THERMO-
INSULATOR. Stack-cook by weight to increase or decrease portions
(6 min./lb. Of food)
-Round casseroles with round corners for most even cooking. Bumps
on bottom elevate, as well as interlock. Durable. Easy-clean, stainresistant
finish. Lightweight. Versatile. Non-Toxic. Lifetime
Guarentee. Excellent customer service.
