HALL/APARTMENT STAFF
Community Directors and Resident Directors: They are
professional, live-in staff members who are responsible for
the overall management of each residence hall/apartment
building. They supervise the Resident Advisors, provide
support to all residents in their building and rotate as night
and weekend on call emergency responders.
Resident Advisors: RA’s are sophomore students or upper
class students who have previously lived on campus. They
live on each floor and are trained in conflict mediation,
building community and emergency response to assist
residents. You can meet your RA at check-in and your
required first floor meetings. Get to know your RA, it will
make a big difference.
Maintenance and Housekeeping Staff: These are staff
members in the buildings that take great pride in our halls
and apartments. You may find yourself in contact with
these individuals on a daily basis and you are encouraged
to say hello as they clean common areas and perform
regular building maintenance. Many residents develop great
relationships with these staff members.
Front Desk Staff: These are staff and students who are the
smiling faces at the front desk of each building. They monitor
who comes and goes in and out of the building 24 hours a
day! They also assist in mail services, sign in guests and take
in any reports of maintenance concerns.
You may already be thinking, “where can I find my favorite
candy bar or bag of chips?” In a few weeks you may be in
search of where to wash your clothes. Luckily, we can tell
you now where to find these amenities. Once you have
received your OneCard, you can start loading money onto it
immediately at www.onecard.wayne.edu/add.php.
VENDING MACHINES
Vending machines are available in all of the residence halls
and apartments. They are located in or near the lobbies of
each building. Additionally, they can be found in several of
the academic buildings around campus.
TELEPHONE SERVICE
Telephone service is not provided in the residence halls or
apartment buildings. Students are encouraged to utilize
personal cell phones. If you wish to request a personal line
for a fee, please see your front desk for details.
STUDY ROOMS/SOCIAL LOUNGES
Study rooms and social lounges are located on every floor in
Atchison, Ghafari and the Towers Residential Suites.
LAUNDRY LOCATIONS
Laundry facilities are located in in each building.
Atchison and Ghafari: Located on the first floor.
Towers Residential Suites: Located on all odd number
floors.
DeRoy Furnished Apartments: Located on all odd number
floors.
It costs a $1.25 per wash cycle and $1.25 per dry cycle.
Students must deposit money onto their OneCard in order
to use the laundry facilities within the residence halls. DeRoy
facilities are coin or OneCard operated.
CABLE TV
Cable is provided through Dish Network for all residents in
Ghafari, Atchison and the Towers Residential Suites. The
cable in DeRoy Furnished Apartments is provided through
Comcast. Students living in DeRoy with any questions or
concerns about their cable should email wayne_state@cable.
comcast.com.
Each residence hall room/suite/apartment provides at least
one outlet for a coaxial cable. Residents must provide their
own coaxial cables. A cable splitter is also recommended
if you are planning on having more than one television per
room/apartment. The cable channel line-ups in the building
include local stations, ABC Family, HGTV, Disney Channel,
Bravo, ESPN and many others.
INTERNET CONNECTIONS
Free wireless Internet is available to all residents. Personal
routers or wireless access points are prohibited anywhere
within the WSU residence halls or apartments.
All WSU residence halls and apartments are equipped
with high speed Internet connections to the University’s
network and Internet via ResNet. WSU Residential Computer
Network, ResNet uses Clean Access systems to regularly
scan computers for viruses and other malicious software. If
a computer fails a security scan, network access is blocked
until the computer passes.
WORKOUT FACILITIES
Exclusive workout facilities are available in the Towers
Residential Suites on all even numbers floors. Not living in the
Towers? A much larger Recreation Center is located just steps
from your room/apartment.
KITCHENETTES
Kitchenettes are located on the third and fifth floors of
Atchison and Ghafari and odd number floors in the Towers.
