New CEO for McAlester Regional
Shares Goals for Region......
McAlester Regional Health Center has welcomed it's new
President/Chief Executive Officer David N. Keith, FACHE.
"My original hire date was to be October 3, but I actually
started in mid September at the hospital's request. I have
been visiting McAlester Regional often over the past six
months. My wife Terry, who is from Western Oklahoma, and
I love it here. So much, that we purchased a house and plan
to remain here past my contract date," Keith said.
Texas born and raised, Keith has an extensive background in
health care administration. He was Chief Operations Officer
at Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield, CA, for three and half
years. "This is a level II trama teaching hospital that houses
222 beds," he said.
Prior to his years in California, Keith spent 10 years in
Anchorage, Alaska as Assistant Administrator for the
Providence Alaska Medical Center that houses 365 beds.
"Although I grew up in Texas, I consider Alaska my home,
As we spent so much time there. We love it there."
Keith also has 17 years experience in veteran's administration, Indian health care and rural
community hospitals. "McAlester Regional Health Center does not serve only the city of
McAlester. It is a "regional" hospital, which means it services all of Pittsburg County. My
responsibility as CEO of this hospital is to meet the health care obligations of all the
communities that border McAlester," Keith added.
Keith states that his goal is to work with all physicians in and around Pittsburg County to
utilize the services offered at the hospital. "By partnering with all local and referred
physicians, we improve the quality of our patient care. If we provide great care and customer
service, the hospital, along with the city of McAlester, will benefit from the economic
results."
Keith said he is highly pleased with the strongly committed Board of Trustees at McAlester
Regional, the backing from the City Council of McAlester and the support from local
physicians. "Together we can begin to make a major shift to act as a regional referral center."
Over the past few weeks, Keith has visited several small hospitals, physician's offices and
major institutions that the hospital refers patients to. "We are all in agreement that with
health care reform, we need to partner together so we can provide great quality health care."
"I am forming a team of leaders that have the skills and business experience to help achieve
the goals we have set," he stated. "Within the next 45 days, I will be recruiting a new chief
financial officer, vice president of patient care services/chief nurse executive, chief
information officer and human resource director. These positions will be a major key in
moving this institution forward."
Keith said he will be working with hospital employees, leaders and physicians and
community leaders to develop a strategic plan for the future of McAlester Regional.
"I am pleased to be here and look forward to serving this hospital and it's patients."
Presidential candidate Cane said he would electrify the chain
fence at the border crossing, and he will put a sign on the other
side “this will kill you”. What if these people can’t read
English?
I too have been having a problem with people walking their
dogs behind my store and when the doggy goes number 2,
they just leave it! I have stopped one lady twice now, she gives
me the blank stare and acts annoyed that I have said
something to her about using the alley behind my building as
a potty area for her dog. Please people be responsible, and pick
up the poop!
For the woman wearing the skimpy clothes, no I did not spend
my money on them and as far as my grand daughters and
nieces they do not wear clothes such as that and what decency
and modesty
Two more comments about my skimpy clothes sound off, first,
let me applaud the fathers raising their sons to be young
adults to be proud of and the right way to choose a wife. The
other sound off about the type of dress, not quite that, but I
take it as a compliment. Thank you.
Facebook, on the news asked what the people thought about
bringing the troops home from Iraq, one man said he was glad,
but thought it was for the wrong reason, I agree, O’Bama is
campaigning for re election.
Egypt and now Libya will soon be under Syrian law thanks to
your president O’Bama.
Last Saturday night, October 22, we had a warning on
television for thirty or forty minutes that a thunderstorm was
coming to a lightening storm. But when the storm got here the
telephone started ringing from the City, telling us that there
were thunderstorms here and it continued before the football
game until after ten O’clock. Tonight is Tuesday and it’s
suppose to be a slight storm and tomorrow Wednesday there
are suppose to be more storm chances. I wonder how much of
a nuisance phone calls we have to put up with, when we know
what the weather will be like. It needs to stop. Thank you very
much.
World news commentator said “standard of living has fallen
way down in the past three years since Obama has been in
office.”
After nine years of war in Iraq, troops are coming home!
O’bama is taking credit, said troops will be home for the
holidays, there were already plans for the troops to come
home.
I read your Sound Off about people who say they are
connected to your paper and use your publication when it is
not appropriate, I have to say I love this paper and I sure hated
to hear that someone is taking such a positive thing and using
it for mischief. I sure hope it stops.
To the driver of the black truck who swerved into my
daughter’s lane on Sunday morning around 10:45 a.m. You
cowardly sped away and never stopped. She ended up in the
woods with her car slammed into a tree. She suffered bodily
injury, needs reconstructive work to her mouth and major
auto repair, because you couldn’t keep your eyes on the road
and your truck and speed under control. Stop texting. Look
up.
I was so upset the other
evening, when I was getting
to get to a safe place in the
middle of a storm and all of a
sudden my phone rings! So
of course concerned I picked
up the phone, now mind you
I have three little ones and I
am in the process of getting
them away from windows
and doing what mommies
are suppose to do during a
storm, but I stopped to
answer, which I know I am
not suppose to do when there
is lightening, only to hear an
automated call telling me
there was a storm! I need am
a bit confused!! I think we
need to be given a better
understanding of what is
going on. Thank you!
I did not like texting, until I
tried it. It is quicker, takes
less time, uses less telephone
time (billable minutes), and
frankly, you don’t have to put
up with a lot of needless
conversation in order to
deliver a message. In my
case, I don’t leave voice
messages, and very seldom
check my own. Can’t talk to a
machine don’t listen to one
either. Another plus, you
really can’t do it well while
driving, but people do talk
on the phone paying 50
percent to the conversation,
and 50 percent to the
driving. I don’t answer my
phone while driving. Better
text me.
GOODWILL COUPON
Well, as luck would have it, we can’t hear a council meeting tonight, this Tuesday night. I
think the Mayor kicked the wire loose under his desk, so we couldn’t hear what’s going on.
Thank you
Skimpy clothes: I liked your comment about wearing that type of dress in public in front of
children, thank you from the original person with the sound off. Keep those comments
coming.
Like the song say’s “I may be cheap, but I ain’t free” remember that the next time you just
show up on my door step thinking I would let you just come right back in! This time around
it’s gonna cost you dearly if you want to come back.
We have noticed so many changes in your paper and our office is so impressed! We have
always loved reading the Journal and now we get to the stand first thing Tuesday mornings to
get our 35 copies for the office. Great job!!!
Compared to last week: steer and heifer calves under 500lbs 6.00-8.00 higher. Calves over
500 lbs 2.00- to 3.00 higher. No recent test of yearling cattle for comparison and yearlings
barely tested this week. Demand was good for good quality cattle, moderate for less
FUNNY BONE!
The Gunfighter
A young cowboy sitting in a saloon one Saturday night
recognized an elderly man standing at the bar who, in his day,
had been the fastest gun in the West. The cowboy took a place
next to the old-timer, bought him a drink and told him of his
great ambition to be a great shot... 'Could you give me some
tips?' he asked. The old man said, 'Well, for one thing, you're
wearing your gun too high - tie the holster a little lower down
on your leg.
' 'Will that make me a better gunfighter?' 'Sure will ' The young
man did as he was told, stood up, whipped out his .44 and
shot the bow tie off the piano player. 'That's terrific!' said the
cowboy. 'Got any more tips?' 'Yep,' said the old man. 'Cut a
notch out of your holster where the hammer hits it - that'll
give you a smoother draw' 'Will that make me a better
gunfighter?' asked the young man. 'You bet it will,' said the
old-timer. The young man took out his knife, cut the notch,
stood up, drew his gun in a blur, and then shot a cufflink off
the piano player.
'Wow!' exclaimed the cowboy 'I'm learnin' somethin' here. Got
any more tips?' The old man pointed to a large can in a corner
of the saloon. 'See that axle grease over there? Coat your gun
with it.' The young man smeared some of the grease on the
barrel of his gun. 'No,' said the old-timer, 'I mean smear it all
over the gun, handle and all.' 'Will that make me a better
gunfighter?' asked the young man.
‘No,' said the old-timer, 'but when Wyatt Earp gets done
playing the piano, he's gonna shove that gun where the sun
doesn't shine, and it won't hurt as much.
