5.3 NVG Solutions and Certification
In order to increase mission capabilities and flight safety during night operations, the EC145 can be
fitted with NVG compatible cockpit and cabin layouts as well as exterior lighting.
May 31, 2007, the first certification providing the EC145 with a NVG aided operation capability was
granted from EASA, FAA and TCCA (Canada). Thus Eurocopter is the first Original Equipment Manufacturer
(OEM) to offer this capability to civil operators.
The certification is based on one specific configuration using among others the MEGHAS display system;
suitable night vision goggles are specific goggles with class B filter from well known manufacturers
(at press date, certified goggles are ITT F4949 and NOGALIGHT NL-93).
On customer's request, Eurocopter will develop and certify other configurations and support also night
vision goggle systems from other manufacturer.
Please note that classic night flight capability remains unrestricted.
