Local ferries
Until such a time as a bridge or tunnel appears, the only
way to get on and off the Lithuanian part of the Curonian
Spit is by ferry, of which there are two routes to choose
from.
First Ferry Terminal (Old Crossing/Senoji
Smiltynės Perkėla) N-7, Danės 1, tel. (+370) 46 31
11 17, www.keltas.lt. The smaller of the two ferry routes
operating between the city and the Curonian Spit is for foot
passengers and cyclists only. The ferry operates from the
northern side of the Danė where it meets the Curonian Lagoon
and was at the time of going to press in need of some serious
signposting. Frequency is much the same as for the New
International ferry schedule

passengers across the lagoon between 05:00 and 02:00
or thereabouts. You’re unlikely to have to wait more than
30 minutes for a ferry during the summer, but may have to
wait a little longer at other times. Everything is explained
in Lithuanian and English. Q Buses 65 - 160Lt, cars 40Lt,
motorcycles 18Lt, foot passengers 2.90Lt, bicycles free.

International Ferry Terminal B-8, Perkėlos 10, tel.

Ferry Terminal is situated about 18km south of the city
centre. Small and easy to use, don’t expect too much in the
way of services. Bus Nº1a leaves from the stop immediately
south of the Old Market on Taikos. A ticket from the driver,
which must be validated in the appropriate machine, currently
costs 2.40Lt, and the journey takes about 25 minutes. Depending
on which company you use, a taxi from Old Town will
cost anything from 35-60Lt.
