The owner of Monterey Pen<strong>in</strong>sula Sports Center, John Rossi, began his<br />
motorcycle sales and service bus<strong>in</strong>ess out of a Seaside basement after tak<strong>in</strong>g over<br />
a t<strong>in</strong>y dealership th<strong>at</strong> had become a fail<strong>in</strong>g enterprise for <strong>the</strong> reason th<strong>at</strong> it lacked<br />
coherent bus<strong>in</strong>ess oper<strong>at</strong>ions and processes. The owner had been simply fly<strong>in</strong>g<br />
by <strong>the</strong> se<strong>at</strong> of his pants, sell<strong>in</strong>g bikes as a cigar shop oper<strong>at</strong>ion, and ignor<strong>in</strong>g<br />
unnecessary bus<strong>in</strong>ess frills such as account<strong>in</strong>g and <strong>in</strong>ventory management.<br />
