FALL GARDEN PARTY TO BENEFIT DESERT BLIND PALM SPRINGS, CA - One of the first events to kick-off the upcoming social season will be a Fall Garden Party at Copley’s on Palm Canyon in Palm Springs on Saturday, October 5, from 2 to 4 pm, with hors d’oeuvers and cash bar, to benefit the Desert Blind and Handicapped Association. “We are extremely excited to be hosting this party that will feature Wearable Fine Art Fashions by Lon Michels and Jewelry by Alex Hunter of Lon Michels Gallery,” said George Holliday, President and Treasurer of the Board. “In addition, we will have entertainment by well-known local classical cellist Ray Kelley of Resort Music, along with jazz guitarist Jon Dalton from Los Angeles. Emcee will be Brian Wanzek, Palm Springs social ambassador and host (known as his alter ego- Bella da Ball). Lon Michels has been painting for more than 45 years with his work in museums and private collections around the world. In 2<strong>01</strong>0 he began painting evening gowns and furs for a museum exhibition at the Wisconsin Academy of Arts and sciences. Lon paints these gowns and vintage furs adorned with Swarovski crystals often to help raise money for charities, and in the last year alone donated $60,000 to charity. A percentage of all sales of the wearable art shown during the Garden Party will benefit the Desert Blind and Handicapped Association. Recently relocated to Palm Springs, his gallery, Lon Michels Gallery is located at 1061 N. Palm Canyon, where you can see Lon, and his artist partner Todd Olson, in their working studio. Among the celebrity models who will be modeling Lon’s wearable fine art and Alex’s jewelry will be Mellissa Ballard, Cindy Ferris, Albert Gonzalez, Dr. Raila Horne, Barbara and Jerry Keller, Rose King, Brenda Lynn Martin, Michell Michou, Bianca Rae, Willie Rhine, Charlene Robbins, Grace Robbins, Sara Rogers, Theresa Rogers, Angela Romero, NFL Quarterback (retired) Gary Valbuena Valbuna and Laurie Wietz.
