NICKY has left the buIldINg:<br />
This year marked the 38 Annual Nicky Awards which was held at the<br />
San Diego Marriot Mission Valley, honoring outstanding achievement<br />
in the LGBT community, The Nicky Awards are doubted the Gay<br />
Academy Awards of San Diego. Nicole Murray Ramirez started this<br />
in 1975 San Diego did not have an awards ceremonies such as Los<br />
Angeles the Lulu Awards and San Francisco the Cable Car Awards.<br />
We needed something here in San Diego to honor our Community,<br />
The Nicky's were born... The question of the evening was who will<br />
Nicky go home with and out of over 43 categories this will be up to<br />
the voters.<br />
The 2<strong>01</strong>3 Mayor Geroge Moscone Memorial Award went to Bonnie<br />
Dumanis Distritc Attorney,The Harvey Milk Equality Award went to<br />
Wilson Cruz,<br />
Russell Royball,Gay For Good and The 2<strong>01</strong>3 Michael Portantine<br />
Outstanding Achievement in Media Award went to Bixi Craig and last<br />
Mr. Nicky 2<strong>01</strong>3 Outstanding Citizen went to Ron Sperry. All results<br />

This was and event were at one time no City Officials or Politician’s<br />
would attend However we are proud to say that the 2<strong>01</strong>3 Nicky’s<br />
drew big names within our city and I was happy to rub elbows with,<br />
Police Chief Bill Lansdowne, Sheriff Bill Gore, Country Supervisor<br />
Ron Roberts, Judge Ken Gosselin, and former Assenmblymen<br />
Nathan Fletcher who by the way will be running for San Diego<br />
Mayor’s race. Anthony Portantion Sixth City Council & candidate<br />
Chris Cate as well as District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis, School<br />
Board Vice President Kevin Bieser, State Assembly Majority Leader<br />
Toni Atkins,San Diego Council President and interim Mayor of San<br />
Diego Mr. Todd Gloria. Well enough name dropping Thank you all<br />
who attended this year’s Nicky Awards and Congratulations to all the<br />
winners see you on the Red Carpet next year......<br />
NIght of 41 dresses:<br />
Have you ever seen an Empress of the Imperial court De San Diego<br />
and wonder where did she get that fabulous dress, or even can you<br />
have it? Well on Sept. 21, 2<strong>01</strong>3 starting at 5PM at the LGBT Center<br />
San Diego you will have your chance. We will be auction off great<br />
exquisite dresses from past, former, and reigning Empress.<br />

is none other then Sable LaRoux, this auction will benefit the many<br />
Programs of the Imperial Court De San Diego. Don’t forget your<br />
sunglasses as there will be a lot of Sparkles. Dresses have arrived<br />
already from Hawaii, Flordia, & Canada, along with the many local<br />
dresses of Former local Empresses, and yes I will donate one of<br />
mine as the 41st.<br />

My Prince Consort and I were able to attend the Imperial State Funeral at Grace Cathedral<br />
in San Francisco CA for our beloved Founder of the Imperial Court. Jose will forever be<br />
remembered for his pioneering spirit and his never ending fight for LGBT civial rights.<br />
In a motorcade to Woodlawn Cemetery in Colma, I hear He passed<br />
the Black Cat location one final time. There he will lay beside his<br />
beloved Emperor Joshua Norton. 1922 - 2<strong>01</strong>3. Rest in Peace.<br />
