Fabric Requirements
1 Sugar Tonga Treats 6-Pack
Note: Each 6-Pack contains one 6" x width-of-fabric strip each
of twenty different fabrics.
31 ⁄4 yards Tonga-B7900 Parchment
21 ⁄4 yards XTonga-B9386 Taffy (106"-wide) or 51 ⁄8 yards
45"-wide Tonga print of your choice (backing)
2/3 yard Tonga-B8780 Aqua (binding)
Other supplies
77" x 91" batting
Optional: Creative Grids Triangle in a Square Ruler (CGRTMT2)
Cutting
From B7900 Parchment:
• Cut eighteen 6" x width-of fabric (WOF) strips.
From each 6" strip (6-Pack and B7900 Parchment previously
cut):
• Fold each 6" strip in half and, starting at the fold, cut ten
triangles, using either the Creative Grids ruler or the template
provided. (figure 1)
• From the remaining fabric sections, measure 11 ⁄2" from
the previous triangle base and cut and trim as shown in
figure 1. These will be the partial triangles for each row end.
From B8780 Aqua:
• Cut eight 21 ⁄4" x WOF strips for binding.
Quilt Top Assembly
1. Working in random color order, stitch the colored triangles
(not the partials) together alternating with the B7900 Parchment
triangles. Each row will require twenty-three triangles.
Make eight rows that begin and end with a colored
triangle. Press all the seam allowances to the right. Make
seven rows that begin and end with a B7900 Parchment
triangle. Press all seams to the left. (You will have
several leftover triangles—perfect for coordinating
pillows.)
2. Sew the partial triangles to the ends of each
row, alternating color sequence to the last full
triangle. Press the seams in the same direction
as others within the row.
3. Stitch the rows together alternating
triangle color placement. Match seams
on adjacent rows. Press all horizontal
seams in one direction. Trim the
quilt side edges evenly, if necessary.
Finishing
4. Layer the quilt top, batting and
backing and quilt as desired.
5. Stitch the binding strips
together end to end using
diagonal seams. Fold and
press the resulting long
strip in half lengthwise
wrong sides together.
Stitch to the quilt
Fold
front, matching raw edges and mitering the corners.
6. Fold the binding to the quilt underside and hand-stitch the
folded edge to the quilt back.
