Nine-Patch Blocks: 

Step One: 

Sew two 2 ½” x 11” Fabric A strips and one 2 ½” x 11” Fabric B strip together as shown. 

Subcut into four 2 ½” x 6 ½” strip sets. 

2 ½” x 6 ½” strip sets 

Step Two: 

Sew one 2 ½” x 11” Fabric A strip and two 2 ½” x 11” Fabric B strips together as shown. 

Subcut into four 2 ½” x 6 ½” strip sets.

Hourglass Blocks: 

Cut Fabric O and Fabric Q squares on the diagonal twice. 

Arrange triangles so that Fabric O is on the left and Fabric Q is on the right. 

Sew together to make one-half of a quarter-square triangle. 

Make thirty-six. 

Make Thirty-six. 

Sew two triangle units together. 

Quarter-square units should measure 6 ½” x 6 ½”. 

Make eighteen.

Quilt Top Assembly: 

Using nine-patch blocks and hourglass blocks, assemble rows of blocks together as shown. 

Sew the rows together first, then sew the columns together. 

Pay close attention to the direction and placement of the blocks.

Assembly: 




Inner Border: 

Subcut Fabric P into two 2 ½” x 42 ½” strips for the side borders. 

Subcut Fabric P into two 2 ½” x 34 ½” strips for the top and bottom borders. 

Sew the Fabric P side borders to the sides of the quilt. Press toward border. 

Sew the Fabric P top and bottom borders to the top and bottom of the quilt. Press toward 

border. 

Second Border: 

Subcut two Fabric R into two 1 ½” x 36 ½” strips for the top and bottom borders. 

Sew remaining three Fabric R strips together end to end, piecing diagonally. 

Subcut Fabric R into two 1 ½” x 46 ½” strips for the side borders. 

Sew the Fabric R side borders to the sides of the quilt. Press toward border. 

Sew the Fabric R top and bottom borders to the top and bottom of the quilt. Press toward 

border.

Assembly: 




Flange Border: 

Subcut two Fabric S strips into two 1 ½” x 36 ½” strips for the top and bottom borders. 

Sew remaining three Fabric S strips together end to end, piecing diagonally. Press the 

seams open. 

Subcut Fabric S strip into two 1 ½” x 48 ½” strips for the side borders. 

Fold and press Fabric S strips in half lengthwise, wrong sides together. 

Align and pin raw edge of the folded flange to sides of the quilt. 

Stitch flange to quilt top using a scant ¼” seam. 

Note: This seam should be hidden after final border is added to quilt. 

Folded edges of flange should face center of quilt. 

Add flange to the top and bottom of the quilt. 

Note: Top and bottom flange will overlap side flange.

Assembly: 




Outer Border: 

Sew all six Fabric T strips together end to end, piecing diagonally. 

Subcut Fabric T into two 6 ½” x 48 ½” strips for the side borders. 

Subcut Fabric T into two 6 ½” x 48 ½” strips for the top and bottom borders. 

Sew the Fabric T side borders to the sides of the quilt. Press toward border. 

Sew the Fabric T top and bottom borders to the top and bottom of the quilt. Press toward 

border. 

Finishing: 

Quilt and bind as desired.
